Tournament Day at Houston County Lake (Tackle Shack Kayak Series)

Tournament day is finally here at Houston County Lake! After putting together a solid pattern during practice, I hit the water targeting bass with a white and chartreuse ChatterBait paired with a swimbait trailer and quickly landed two quality keepers early in the morning. When the bite slowed down, I made a move to some of my practice areas and spent the rest of the day skipping docks and chasing a mixed bag of largemouth and spotted bass. The ChatterBait proved to be the key bait all day, producing every fish I caught, including a really nice largemouth. Although I wasn’t able to put together the tournament bag I was hoping for, it was still a fun and valuable day on the water that taught me a few new lessons about Houston County Lake.
