Mid-morning at my cabin in the Pocono Mountains — warm sun on the shallow water, quiet shoreline, and a few peaceful hours to myself after the Annual Trotter Fishing Trip. This pond is known for its shallow, weed filled habitat and great warmwater fishing, especially largemouth bass and chain pickerel.

I targeted shaded pockets while thinking about the weekend and the importance of family traditions. I’m grateful to be included in my friend’s annual trip — it’s something that keeps us all connected.

For this quick solo float, my goal was simple: test out the Z Man SwimmerZ and see if I could fish it weed free a couple feet below the surface. It worked. I landed 2 largemouth bass in the first 10 minutes and wrapped up the 3-hour float with 5 bass and 5 pickerel.

Sun shining, calm water, and steady bites… the perfect way to finish the weekend.
