I managed to hook into a massive 5lb largemouth bass on a topwater lure, but the fight didn’t end at the surface.

After a brutal blowup, this heavy bass headed straight for the bottom and wedged itself into a thick matrix of weeds. I literally had to haul a giant pile of heavy lake moss up from the bottom just to rescue a true five-pound monster. Along with another really nice topwater bass, this trip proved that when the topwater bite is on, you have to be ready to winch them out of the heavy cover!
