There are days in the outdoors that go exactly as planned…

…and then there are days like this.

I set out hoping for a quiet morning on the water with my paddleboard, surrounded by the mountains, expecting nothing more than a little peace, a few casts, and maybe a couple of trout.

Instead, I spent hours without a single bite, fell completely into the lake, questioned whether I should pack it up and head home, and nearly ended the day early.

I’m really glad I didn’t.

Sometimes the best adventures don’t begin with success—they begin with frustration. This day reminded me that persistence, patience, and staying just a little longer often lead to the moments you’ll remember forever.
