My Son's PB Smallmouth…and My GIANT PB Rock Bass! | Maryland Fall Bass Fishing
A 32-degree morning, a beautiful mountain reservoir, peak fall colors, and a father-son bass fishing trip we’ll remember! 🍂🎣
I headed out with my 13-year-old son to bass fish a stunning 1,000-acre reservoir in Maryland. This deep, crystal-clear lake sees very little fishing pressure, and the autumn scenery was absolutely beautiful. What started as a freezing morning turned into a perfect sunny fall day—and the bass fishing didn’t disappoint!
We started out throwing jerkbaits, but they weren’t producing the way we’d hoped. It didn’t take long to discover that finesse fishing was the key to getting bites. The Ned rig was the star of the show, with the drop shot helping us put more fish in the boat.
We caught a good number of fish throughout the day, including: 🎣 My son’s BIGGEST smallmouth bass ever—his new personal best! 🎣 A huge rock bass that was my personal best for the species. 🎣 A big channel catfish. 🎣 Plenty of other smallmouth bass and rock bass along the way.
Between the fish catches, the clear mountain water, and the incredible mid-October fall colors, this was one beautiful day to be on the water. Come along for all the fishing action, see which techniques produced best, and enjoy this father-son adventure on a gorgeous Maryland reservoir!
