Finesse swimbaiting for pre-spawn bass near the State Park, Clear Lake, Ca.

In this video I scale down my presentation to finesse swimbaits. Specifically a 3-inch Keitech easy shiner and a ballhead jig, 1/16th ounce. I used a medium action spinning rod with a 20 foot 6-pound flourocarbon leader because the water was exceptionally clear for Clear Lake and the bass seemed to be suffering from a wicked outbreak of lockjaw. Come along to see how I get it done in spite of the bite being shut down for days.

  1. Split shot worm shines when conditions are like that at Clear Lake, or anywhere for that matter. Peg that small bullet sinker up. Something about that slow fall gets them to inhale, and just swim away with it.
