I Broke My Rod on a GIANT Bass! | Florida Bass Nation Pro Am
This one was a wild ride from start to finish at the Florida Bass Nation Pro Am State Championship on the Harris Chain!
We launched out of Ski Beach on Lake Harris, but I had about an hour run to get to Lake Beauclair, where I started my morning. I was able to put a few fish in the boat early on a ChatterBait and wacky-rigged stick bait before things got really interesting.
I pulled out the frog and had a BIG bass blow up on it. When I set the hook, my rod broke—and while I was trying to reel the fish in, it came off. Definitely one of those fish I’ll be thinking about for a while!
From there, I made a move to Carlton and started targeting groups of fish sitting on the bottom with a drop shot. I was able to put a few more fish in the boat before making another run back toward Beauclair.
With time running out, I eventually headed back toward the weigh-in. With only about 10 minutes left, I stopped at a dock near the weigh-in location and made a few casts with the drop shot. On the FIRST CAST, I caught a 1.85-pounder that gave us another cull!
After a long day of running, changing areas, and trying to figure out the fish, we finished with a five-fish limit weighing 10.47 pounds and ended up in 10th place.
