Site Six Lake Havasu Fishing… We Found a Multi-Species Hotspot!
We drove 2 1/2 hours south from Las Vegas to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, for two days of fishing… and on our VERY FIRST NIGHT, we ended up catching a 17.5 POUND CARP, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, striped bass, and bluegill!
In this Lake Havasu fishing adventure, the FishinMoney crew makes the trip to Lake Havasu City to explore a new lake, check out one of the most well-known fishing stores in town, and fish Site Six as the sun goes down. We had no idea just how many different species we would run into on our first night.
Before hitting the water, we made a stop at Bass Tackle Master in Lake Havasu City. If you’re planning a Lake Havasu fishing trip, this is a place you’re going to want to see. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with fishing tackle, rods, reels, lures, bait, and just about everything an angler could need. There was so much fishing gear inside that we jokingly called it “organized chaos!”
After stocking up and checking out the local tackle scene, we headed to Site Six, one of the most accessible and popular shore fishing areas in Lake Havasu City. Site Six has a large public fishing pier and easy access to the lake, making it a popular place for anglers looking to fish Lake Havasu from shore.
We had heard from friends and other local anglers that the area around Site Six can be worth fishing after dark, especially when fish move into the shallows in the evening. So, as soon as we arrived in Lake Havasu City, we got the rods out and started fishing.
It didn’t take long.
Within the first 5–10 minutes, Lorin hooked into a solid SMALLMOUTH BASS on a chartreuse crankbait. That was a pretty good way to start our first night on Lake Havasu!
As darkness settled in, the action continued. Dad managed to catch TWO hefty channel catfish, Ethan got in on the catfish action as well, and then things took a major turn when Ethan hooked into a massive Lake Havasu carp.
After a long fight, Ethan landed a 17.5-POUND CARP — making it his NEW PERSONAL BEST CARP FROM LAKE HAVASU CITY! This wasn’t his biggest carp ever, but it was the biggest carp he had caught from Lake Havasu.
I also managed to catch a small striped bass, giving us yet another species for the night. Then, toward the end of the trip, Ethan caught a bluegill that he decided to save as cut bait for the following day.
And that’s where this Lake Havasu fishing adventure really starts to get interesting…
We ended the night talking about everything we had caught and what we wanted to try the next day. That bluegill wasn’t going to waste — Ethan had a plan for it, and you’ll have to come back for the next Lake Havasu fishing video to see what happened.
This is only PART ONE of our Lake Havasu fishing trip. We spent two full days exploring Lake Havasu City, trying different fishing techniques, chasing different species, and seeing what we could catch from the bank.
