BASSMASTER and MLF Can’t Stand Each Other Until $500K Is on the Line
The Ultimate Angler Championship on Lake Guntersville might be one of the most interesting ideas in tournament bass fishing right now: $500,000 to the winner, roughly $1 million in prizes, around 200 anglers, pros and grassroots competitors fishing head-to-head, and no forward-facing sonar allowed. In this video I break down why I think this format could be a blueprint for the future of bass fishing, bringing Bassmaster, Major League Fishing, NPFL anglers and qualified weekend fishermen together in one event instead of separating everyone by tour or platform. I also talk about the biggest thing the event needs to improve—media coverage—and how I think the tournament could actually be won on Guntersville with traditional fall bass fishing techniques like flipping, punching grass mats, football jigs, frogs, topwater and ChatterBaits.
