I Took My Wife Fishing… It Didn't Go As Planned

This fishing trip didn’t go exactly as planned—but it turned into a memorable adventure anyway.

In this video, I take my wife fishing as she’s learning the basics of the sport. Throughout the trip, I coach her through different techniques while we try a variety of setups to see if we can get her first fish.

We fish with a Ned Rig, a small spoon, a swim grub, and a bobber setup, hoping something will get a bite. I even get some action on one of my catfish rods, but the fish never fully commits. We also lose a Ned Rig after getting snagged, proving once again that fishing doesn’t always go according to plan.

Just as we’re settling into the trip, the weather changes fast. A storm moves in, and before we know it we’re sprinting back to the van, getting completely soaked in the process. At the end of the video, I even head back out into the pouring rain to retrieve my other fishing rod before calling it a day.

You’ll also occasionally hear our son in the background enjoying the outing with us. For his privacy and safety, he isn’t shown on camera.

Even though we didn’t land any fish, we had a great time spending time together outdoors—and sometimes those are the trips you remember the most.
