From Dirty to Clear Water | Choosing the Right Lures for Bass (Lubina / Robalo) Portugal

Fishing after a winter of storm after storm it can be challenging, but it’s often when the best opportunities appear after if you adapt to the conditions.

This video actually started on the west coast of Portugal, where I first tried a session in rough conditions and managed to hit a few bass!
The sea was already coloured and difficult to fish, and it only got bigger and dirtier as time went on. With the conditions deteriorating, I made the move to the south coast to find cleaner, more fishable water.

The key was adjusting tactics and choosing the right lure for the conditions, whether that’s fishing in dirty water, rough seas, or clearer, calmer areas.

Even though the fishing wasn’t easy, making the right decisions with lure selection and reading the water made all the difference, and it paid off with a few solid bass along the way on the Waylander Mean Minnow.
Just goes to show that even in tough conditions, there are always fish to be caught if you stay adaptable.

For this trip, I was using the Samson Long Cast Todos Rod (12ft) paired with 36 Strong Samson Braid, a setup that really comes into its own when you need long casting performance and reliability in demanding conditions. The extra distance and control around the rocks is vital and helped cover more ground and work the lures well!
