Summer Bass Fishing (Dog Days) — Weedline Senko Bite & Hot Weather Tactics

After a long break from uploading due to Army demands, I share that I am now on retirement leave, living in Oklahoma, and getting back into fishing while keeping family priorities first.

In late August’s extreme Southwest Oklahoma heat, I hit a clear reservoir with mixed structure (rocks, weeds, shelves, drop-offs).

The morning bite is slow despite trying multiple lures and presentations, but around 10:00 AM in 90°+ conditions I start getting bites by targeting the weedline where weeds meet rock and slowly working a weightless Texas-rigged 5″ watermelon red flake Senko, landing a 16-inch (ish…..) bass and another smaller fish in 5–6 feet around hydrilla/grass.

I emphasize adjusting to heat by fishing shaded/cool cover, slowing down, watching your line for subtle bites, and setting the hook decisively to avoid gut-hooking fish.
