This Free Rig combo catches bigger summer bass!

I’m pairing an old-school long curly-tail worm with a modern Free Rig: the Issei Super Stick Curly 6-inch, a 7g weight, and MH baitcasting tackle.

The morning bite was dead, so I returned after noon and slowly worked offshore weeds near a shallow flat. Cast, let it hit the bottom, and drag it back with three slow pulls. It takes patience, but that long tail keeps fluttering close to the bottom—and it may help pick out better-sized bass.

I caught one solid bass, plus an unexpected fish weighing nearly 8 pounds. Unfortunately, the giant was foul-hooked, so I can’t count it as a legitimate catch—but the fight was unbelievable!

Try this long curly-tail Free Rig combo while the summer water is warm.
