Another day bass fishing at **Castaic Lagoon (Lower Lake)** on August 21, 2026. The morning started off slow, but the bite began picking up around **10:00 AM**, and I ended the trip with **about 7 bass**.
Most of the fish came on the bait that continues to produce for me at Castaic Lagoon — a **C3 Baits SlimPro Oxblood on a drop shot**. I also caught a few fish on a **weightless Fat Ika**.
The most productive area was around the **dock by the west-side launch ramp**. This is the second trip in a row where I’ve seen or caught a good number of bass around this part of the Lagoon.

The biggest takeaway from this trip was the **change in activity later in the morning**. Fishing was slow early, but around 10 AM the bite started picking up around the west-side dock.
The **SlimPro Oxblood continues to be my most consistent producer at Castaic Lagoon**, while the weightless Fat Ika has now produced fish on multiple trips as a good secondary presentation.
I’m continuing to document these Castaic Lagoon trips to compare **water temperature, weather, barometric pressure, wind, moon phase, time of day, location, bait and fish size** to see what patterns develop over time.
