🎣 I Took on @CodyYakAngler… and Got Schooled! | Rideau Canal Bass Fishing

I headed out to the beautiful Rideau Canal with fellow YouTuber @CodyYakAngler, expecting a fun day chasing largemouth bass. What I didn’t expect was to become the live demonstration of what not to do while Cody casually turned the trip into his own fishing masterclass.

The conditions were almost perfect. Patchy clouds kept the sun guessing, there was just enough current to keep things interesting, and the bass were definitely in the mood to bite. I managed to land three largemouth bass, with my biggest tipping the scales at 2.5 pounds, while the other two came in around the 1 to 1.5-pound range. Not a bad day… until you looked over at Cody.

Every time I looked his way, his rod was bent over again. Bigger bass. More bass. At one point I was pretty sure the fish had signed a contract agreeing to only bite his lure. I’m convinced the bass were swimming past my bait just to ask, “Where’s Cody?”

Fishing has a funny way of keeping your ego in check, and this trip delivered a healthy dose of humility. Some days you’re the hero of the story. Other days you’re just the guy holding the net while your buddy catches another giant.

Despite getting thoroughly out-fished, it was an incredible day on the water with great company, plenty of laughs, and enough bass action to make every cast exciting. That’s what fishing is really about. The fish are just the bonus… unless you’re Cody, then apparently they’re mandatory.
