Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 8 Jul 2026 | Fishing report
We fished Lake of the Ozarks out of Larry Gale on 8 July 2026 and had another solid summer numbers day.
We were on the water from about 0613 to 1339, for a total trip time of 7 hours and 26 minutes. Conditions were hot and calm, with little to no breeze, partly cloudy skies, stained water, air temperatures from 67 to 90 degrees, and water temperatures ranging from 84 to 93 degrees.
Overall, we caught 34 fish for 28.4 pounds total, with 4 keepers and a best five around 7.2 pounds. The bite was steady through the morning, especially once the fish started showing a clear preference for soft plastics around banks and docks.
The main bait was the 5-inch PBJ worm, which produced 25 of the 34 fish and 2 keepers. Most of those fish came around boat docks and banks, with docks producing slightly more bites on that bait. The green pumpkin fuzzy bait also played an important role, catching 5 fish and producing 2 keepers, including one of the better early fish.
The best location pattern was split almost evenly between banks and boat docks. Banks produced 17 fish, boat docks produced 16 fish, and we picked up one fish offshore. The better bites came from the bank, including keepers at 0726, 0909, 1044, and 1311.
A few other baits caught fish, including a green pumpkin Brush Hog, green pumpkin 5-inch worm, green pumpkin Brush Hog Jr, and a PBJ curly tail worm, but the overall pattern was pretty clear: soft plastics in green pumpkin and PBJ colors around banks and docks.
This was not a big-fish day, but it was a good Lake of the Ozarks summer fishing report with steady action, stained water, hot temperatures, and a strong soft-plastic bite.
