California Delta Bass Fishing Report – Mid June
After nearly a month and a half away from the California Delta, I finally got back on the water for a Saturday morning bass fishing trip. I launched out of B&W Resort on the Mokelumne River at sunrise and spent the morning fishing the Central Delta until noon.
My plan was to start at one of my favorite areas, but I quickly found that most of the vegetation had been sprayed since my last visit. I was able to put a couple of fish in the boat on a topwater bait early, but it became clear I needed to make an adjustment and find healthier grass.
Once I located some good matted vegetation, the punch bite turned on. That pattern ended up producing the majority of my fish for the day. Instead of running all over the Delta, I settled into a productive area and fished through the tide cycle, picking apart the mats and letting the fish tell me what they wanted.
In this report, I break down the conditions, the adjustments I made, and the pattern that helped put fish in the boat.
