  1. 99% of boat anglers in my areas are very dum and I love that. They position their boat 5 feet away from cover and cast 5 feet away from their boat. As a shore angler I’m catching fish under their boat.

  2. Wow! That makes a lot of sense. I over think a lot and I know to do this. Then I spend to much time shallow. This year I started doing this earlier and have caught so many more fish. Good to know I’m on the right track.

  3. Great explanation. I fish a lot of shallow, marshy water where it's often very flat. When the bass are getting pressured near the bank, they will often retreat only 20-30 feet to some eel grass, kissimmee grass, or reeds nearby where they can get more cover.

  4. I think that a lot of times this is where bank anglers have an advantage because as boaters, we tend to have that trolling motor kicked on high and covering water; making pitches and casts until we get a bite to start working an area thoroughly. I feel like bank anglers will usually make more casts from one spot before moving on.

  5. I love the underwater footage you show us Steve along with your explanations on what is going on sub surface. I have been fishing a little deeper this year and trying new baits. The East Tennessee lakes get hammered all the time. I have had better success off those edges. Its great to see underwater. Thanks again for all you do.

  6. In addition to this great info, as I am a 1yr in angler. Last year, I was fishing by chance. What I mean by that is, I would go to a location/spot/area that I thought might hold fish but only would cast a few times. I’m not sure if this is actually considered “power fishing” as I don’t think I actually gave an area a chance, even if I catch a fish there. I’m wondering if you could answer this or maybe on another episode: how long do you stay at a spot/area/location prior to moving to the next? I realize this is my goal this year but also don’t want to overdo it to a point that I am missing out finding a pattern. Thanks again. – Born Again Angler

    You….you….you are good.

Steve you really have identified an invaluable niche. We’ve all had these hunches that what we think we know isn’t quite right. Thanks for tapping into that. Keep up the great work.

  8. Spot on knowledge. Weekend pressure is far greater than ive ever seen. With the wed thurs fri afternoon tournaments going all year now in any larger body of water im starting to think maybe we should reconsider a tournament season or an off limits time for the fish to not be harrassed. How many are we hurting. I know its not a popular subject Steve but the fish cant speak for themselves. Catch and release has helped now what else can we as sportmen do
