Check out this video I’d love to hear your opinion. We caught this on camera but couldn’t do anything about it. Definitely a rules violation but do you consider it cheating.

MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn’t have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey…it should be an honest and fun ride!
What about ol' Lloyd Buckets fishing during off limits and only giving himself a twenty minute penalty? That Wesley kid got caught cheating in Alabama again. Upshaw was policing the rules from 80 feet away. Glad he was looking out for everyone in that area
If someone unintentionally breaks a rule that in my book is not cheating. If they do it intentionally then absolutely cheating. Besides cheating the other big issue is unsafe and reckless boating. cheating won't kill you but being an idiot at the console can.
Shame on the director for the shotgun start before you all can see. Then you have the idiot running the bridge not worrying about the safety of others around him.
Are you high?
When money is involved there will always be people trying to skirt the rules, break the rules, etc…..
Put money and ego on the line and the worst comes out of a lot of people. It’s gross and I’m naive to a bunch of different thoughts personally but it just makes me realize I got to catch ‘em even better.
Guy was definitely in the wrong, shotgun starts suck, worst thing ever lol,i think even though it was dark somebody was close enough to see who it was but thats a tuff one Todd
They probably did that because they knew that noone would be able to identify them
Don’t turn into a upshaw Todd. There’s a reason Bryan new is in the elites and upshaw ain’t. Push the rules n don’t cheat. I believe in safety man but don’t let ur channel turn into this BS. The real 🔨 s don’t care for this BS. The effort u put forth in this video could have been put to better use. I’m sick of cry baby’s n drama in fishing.
I was on the fence till i read the email…100% should be DQed.
👍👍👍👍👍
U mean u have never played defense? Lol! I didn’t even know defensive fishing was a thing until some recent events. Ha
He gained an advantage and knowingly ran the bridge whether he read the rules or not and should be disqualified
Cheating and unsafe, a recipe for disaster! As those guys in that tournamant in Florida where the two boats collided in a no wake zone freakin scarry stuff! Probably should have called the director so that specific question can be asked on polygraph.
Todd works for the LORD!👍
Sounds just like the richland chambers bass club
Years ago I fished a local Thursday night tournament until I ran across two boats in an area swapping fish. I should have said something but I really could not identify the guys. Never fished it again. I still wonder if it was the same guys that always finished high in the money week after week.
Regardless of what you're talking about that night footage is so sick watching yall pull off in darkness I live vicariously through your vids so that was a neat experience to see as someone who doesn't get to fish these type of Tournaments that's cool af
I think he cheated. If you break a rule that gives you an advantage, then to me you cheated. You might have unknowingly cheated but nonetheless you cheated.
In any competition i don't care what the rules are, as long as everyone abides by them then we are all on a level playing field.
The guys constantly breaking them have picked that up from their role models, unfortunately theirs weren't good role models.
I think you should have brought it up to the director, for him to ask if anyone could positively ID the guy .
Tadd, I’m pretty sure that was my wife and I leaving the ramp you are discussing. I’ve been fishing the lake 25+ years and don’t believe there is a wake law at that bridge since it was rebuilt. We idled through 25+ boats to get on pad safely. There was one boat at the south end of the bridge fishing, I went through the middle of bridge.
There's guys that THINK they can make a living at bass fishing even though they suck they'll push the limits because they don't want to explain to their wives of why they have a 800$ a month boat payment and haven't cashed a check in 2 years, they are desperate and stupid, if they were any good at it they wouldn't have to be in a hurry!!!
Just curious if you dim the front graphs will it help vision. Great video about guys pushing the rules and possibly being disqualified too
That’s to early and unsafe as hell what happened to start at safe light
How about blowing up a bed with your troll Motor cause you can’t catch that bed fish would you consider that cheating or just a bone head move from an elite and why is no one talking about it just wondering!!
Tournament should have started at SAFE LIGHT. Yep there are people who will do anything.
It’s not posted as a no wake but there’s a city ordinance to idle bridges. Heard about a conversation with a game warden saying they wont enforce it because it’s a city
Ordinance. The organization sent emails and text messages making it clear to idle them. What I didn’t care for was the trailering rule where u could leave one public boat ramp and run across the water to another public ramp. If you launch at a ramp, should have to leave from there, not be able to run up the lake over water to another ramp. Drive and launch at that ramp if you want to leave from that ramp. My opinion.
Did you get a new camera? It looks crisp today.
If you INTENTIONALLY break the rules you are cheating. No other way to put it. As for the bridge I would ask around and see if anyone could identify them. That goes way beyond rules, you could kill somebody. We don't start our tournaments until offical sunrise. That video just looked like an accident waiting to happen
Yeah, Todd, that where I came up with the name Ordinary Anglers! Just the tournament, guys you named!!
You don’t even know if that guy was in the tournament
Happens all the time
Blasting off at safe light kills me if its safe light i shouldn't need my running lights…
Shot gun starts were the only way tournaments used to be run they used to be no, no wakes on bridges or nothing at Lake Wylie, North Carolina. That’s just the way it used to be. I quit fishing tournaments because of that. not professionally just local tournaments.
I think a lot of it has to do with intent..the cheat word gets thrown around too loosely
I've been in a couple bad shotgun starts at RR. TTO does flighted starts for trailering events and it is a much better way of doing it.
In this case I think he did both, broke the rule and cheated. Competitive advantage taking off before everyone else and blowing the bridge
Was he for sure in the tournament ? No one local fishes ?
Couple years back shotgun start TxTT on cedar creek. Worst thing ever. Launched near the same spot you launched from. Never fished another. That bridge get covered with crappie fisherman and out of the 150+ boats, 1/2 were on pad when they went under wreaking havoc on those guys fishing under bridge. Ain’t worth it. And these weren’t young guys, it was grown men that knew better.
When there's big money on the line people will do stupid things. eventually doing stupid things in a boat will catch up with you.
Was there anyway to identify which boat it was? If not, it's a dead issue.
