Winter kayak Fishing for HUNGRY Smallmouth Bass!

Winter Bass Fishing Tips:

Winter bass fishing can be tough, but with the right techniques, you can still land some great fish. Hopefully you find this video helpful!

Here are 10 tips to help you catch more bass in cold water:

1. Fish Deeper Water
Bass move to deeper areas during winter for stable water temps. Look for drop-offs, ledges, and submerged structures.

2. Slow Down Your Presentation
Cold water slows bass metabolism, so use slow techniques like dragging a jig or shaky head with long pauses between movements. In this case- a jerkbait with long pauses and subtle twitches.

3. Use Subtle Lures
Choose smaller, more subtle lures in natural colors like green pumpkin or shad patterns. Finesse jigs and soft plastics work great.

4. Watch for Sunlight
Bass become more active in sunny weather. Focus on shallow areas where the sun can warm the water, especially on the southern bank.

5. Focus on Structure and Cover
Look for bass near underwater rocks, brush piles, or fallen trees. These areas provide shelter and an easy ambush point for bass.

6. Use Lighter Line
Cold water makes bass cautious, so use lighter line (6-12 lb test). It helps your lures move more naturally and improves sensitivity.

7. Pay Attention to Water Temperature
Look for slightly warmer water. Areas with direct sunlight or inflows (like springs) can be a few degrees warmer and attract bass.

8. Fish at the Right Time of Day
Bass are more active in the afternoon when the water warms up. Focus on fishing from mid-morning to late afternoon for the best chances.

9. Be Prepared for a Long Wait
Winter fishing can be slow, so stay patient! Fish slowly and methodically, making subtle changes in depth or location until you find active fish.

10. Be Ready for Light Bites
Bass bite lightly in cold water. Pay close attention to any line movement, and use a light touch when setting the hook.
