Topwater fishing with a rat lure, in January, in North Dakota! Call me crazy but with the recent warm weather up here and a power plant heated lake I think the rat might be worth a try!

Happy New Year, Matt! Good to se you back on the water. Here's to a great year of fishing!
Ok…now I just don't know what is real anymore. @NDYakAngler is catching topwater largies in ND in JANUARY???????????? Who am I? Where am I? Is anything real? (staring intently at my own wiggling fingers)
wow nice surprise with a winter fishing video ๐
The best.๐
Amazing and inspiring as always. Have some open water to fish tomorrow and now I'll take a couple topwater lures, nothing wrong with trying.
Way to go! Topwater in the winter. ๐ฎ
I'm glad to see a new video. I was having withdrawls!!
What an AWSOME day/video on the water for Jan. What type of structure do you look for when throwing the swim jig in open water?
Man I've caught some giants on wakebaits like the rat during the dead of winter down here in the south… Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I was raised on a farm with a 3.5 acre lake that was dammed up in the 50's for cattle water supply. You could sit in the middle of that lake, dead of winter (in KY), with a Berkely power finesse worm in 20 feet of water and catch more 2-3lb bass in a day than you could all summer long. They'd pile-up on an old well pump house made of cinder block. Like candy from a baby, but only in winter. I miss those days.
Water temp in the 60's? WTF?
Is it just me, or do you agree that the fish look different in the winter? They have sort of a monotone look compared to the summertime.
4:02 fishing at noon during the week? I need your job, LOL
Nelson?
Another great video.
Spring canโt come soon enough!
We can see that lake from the front window of my daughters house, great area!!!
Boy its great to see you back Fish whisper. Great catch ๐๐๐๐
Great stuff, as always. As an idiot, I ask does the power plant make the water warmer?
60 degree water. Gotta be a warm water discharge lake
Imagine my surprise when I saw your latest, what a treat!
So glad you are back…I was honestly worried about you.
Might have been a little slow for you today, but just one is infinitely better than zero. And thanks for leaving in the clip where you were going for the tree bass. Seems like that's where I spend about half my time. Really enjoy watching you fish.
what kayak are you using? im in the market
You're back!! My Saturday mornings just got a whole lot better sir, thanks again!
Thatโs awesome! I get the same itch for Topwater action and always start throwing a plug in February/March even though I know itโs to early and cold. Iโve never caught a TW Bass in water that cold though.. ๐
OUTSTANDING!!! Luv from Denmark!
Always makes my day, can't wait for summer to get back on topwater. Nice post bro
Wait what ? 60* water in North Dakota in Januaryyyy???? Friends Don't eat any of Those fish โข๏ธโข๏ธโข๏ธ
Thanks for this Matt. I have been wondering if you would make the trip west to fish at Nelson. Enjoyed it! You are welcome to come to my cabin by Wirt, I caught my PB largemouth twice this past summer summer, 20.25&21.75, both minutes from my place!
