  1. BPT numbers all sound good today but who knows what tomorrow brings with the BPT. Next year could include more Pros or maybe even less pros, they could double the entry fees, you just never know what is next with them. I can't really say because I don't fish that level but I would think that if I was fishing in that level I would choose BASS. Yes they make changes too but they just seem more consistent to me, and heck there is a reason why they are still the most recognized name in tournament bass fishing.

  2. I always appreciate these types of videos but i think there was a math error. In the NPFL 11-15 you show 10,200 each for all 5 for a total of 51k. In the total it shows 40,800. I love these videos showing apples to apples. Thank you

  3. Over all you have to look at the whole package. Yes the classic brings some prestige but I do think it has lost some luster. I don't think the sponsors are knocking down the doors of the classic winners anymore. Will they get some notoriety? Of course there will be and yes the Classic is still the biggest championship in the sport so there is that in BASS's favor. Now to get to the classic you have to go through the 104 anglers fishing the elites where as on the BPT you have to go through 65. To be fair about all this I am pretty sure the sponsors aren't knocking down the doors of the Redcrest winners either and no doubt you will have more recognition with a classic win than a redcrest win but is it enough in todays pro fishing to make that big of a difference. 15 years ago I would have said yes to that question all day long. Another thing to consider is the BPT has heavy hitters. This is another no entry fee tournament that pays out big bucks and last but not least there is a chance to fish the team series at the end of the year which is another possible way to earn some more money. I know these pros have to make their decisions on what best fits them. It could be the format, it could be where their sponsors want them, or it just could be where they actually feel better fishing that makes them go to that particular tour and that's what is right for them but if you just want look at the numbers the the BPT hands down is the place to be.

  4. 125k X 6 = $725,000.00 extra. Add in 9 events for the Elites, the 3 extra Events are 975K. A cool quarter million more than the other guys and you get to fuel your passion chasing 3 more events and a shot at the Super Bowl of BASS Fishing titles. For 50 yrs, no other has dethroned them. All have come and gone.

  5. Hello Steve. I believe if you are trying to make some money and get the most exposure. You will fish the BPT. If you want to grab that brass ring. ( The Classic ) You have to fish the elites. If you want to fish at a high-end tournament without having to qualify for it, you fish the NPFL.
Having a higher payout and three no fee tournaments, the Redcrest, Heavyhitters, and now the team series. You have to wonder if some guys who made the jump from the BPT to the Elites are now having second thoughts. ( although they would and could not ever admit it ) they have to be thinking ๐Ÿค” a smaller field, more live exposure, higher pay bracket and more no fee tournaments Hmmmmm maybe l made a mistake. I'm just putting that out there.
With BPT's live and repeat viewing on many platforms, I'm not convinced that Bassmaster is getting bigger numbers per season. And we know they all organization inflate their numbers .
Bassmaster is the OG. In the bass fishing tournament industry. ( But times they are a changing ). The removal of entry fees is a long-awaited change, but I'm not sure why you do it if you need to reduce payouts to make it substantable. And that at all ends if the elites, including the Classic and the angler of the year, payouts.
As far as the Classic goes it is the biggest event of the year. But it is only one tournament that used to be a great supplement to your income, but in 2025, that's changed. I bet now as a pro, you could make as much money working the Classic as fishing in it. Remember, pros get paid to be at events, and some get paid well. Only the winner fishing the Classic is remembered at the end of the day. Try and think of who finished fifth last year without looking it up. So , you're in the elites because the classic today seems a little less these days. Saying that, I still love watching it every year, and one year, I will be going.
The NPFL is a great tournament that you can fish at a high level without having to qualify. The payout is ok. The exposure is fine but not great. But the removal of FFS may turn it unintentionally into a senior tour with young anglers trying to see if they can make an eze buck.
So, as you pointed out, the big money right now is in BPT. In all aspects of its division. So keep an eye out for pro hitting the Toyotas trying to make the BPT. In the near future.
    Tight lines.
    Regards, Steven.

  6. The sad part is that if BASS fishing was a real sport, the lowest paid guy should be making the total payout for the trail they are in. Instead, they all split that amount. The numbers just suck for all of them.

  7. Being honest, BPT is the best. Redcrest isn't the Classic, but the Classic is the Classic anymore. While both the Classic and Redcrest, are not fee, there are 2 more no fee, that BPT has Heavy Hitters, which comes close to a Classic win for payout, and the team series , more followers and plug your sponsorships. Steve, do a video, after this season, where the winners after all the no entry tournaments, to see the payout winners. I would give up the Classic title, for more money, and saying, I completed against the best 65, and 50, then 105 wanta be's.

  8. Great vid bud. This is what I look at for an overall perspective. NPFL: Biggest upside for growth considering where they stand in this line up. It could go either way. BPT: The numbers look great, however they still have anglers that qualified after the restructure heading over to other leagues. Reasoning? Would like to hear more on that front. Elites: This change is very unique…. If they can get sponsors to add into the pool a year or two down the line; this would be the perfect option for "professional" anglers. Should the anglers have had some input on these changes .. probably so.(?) There are many options for this format. I only think it will work with buy in's on both sides. That said, If your not happy with the current accommodations….move on if your current contracts will allow you to do so. (< important reference) And good LUCK requalifying!!

  9. Professional angling reminds me of professional surfing. I believe the every day surfer and angler could care less about competitive angling or surfer.

  10. The comparison of the leagues are very different. NPFL is not as strong as the other leagues. Itโ€™s still a baby in the game. The other two leagues are what people know. They are more financially stable as of right now. We will have to see how it plays out I reckon. Ask Edwin , if he was making so much fishing, he might not have to sell pecans , ha! I follow him. Heโ€™s one of the best that ever competitively fished.
