  1. Hello Mr. B. thanks for the tips. I finally broke down this year and spent some cake on three megabass baits on your recomendation. One is a Vision oneten in "Matte Magic" Matte Emerald Shad. The finish is awesome but I was really disappointed to see it floating out of the package, even in extremely cold 32°F water. You say they float slowly, and it depends on the finish, but the package says suspend, and mine seems to be more buoyant than just a slow float. Comparatively, the 110 Jr+1 got with it suspends nicely at the same water temp. Is it your opinion that this the norm, or did I get a dud? My feeling is that I did. Should I contact Megabass directly, or should I return it to the store (it's not close by). Kind of a bummer, considering the price tag and the build up of expectations surrounding the mythical 110, for my first one to disappoint. If you can spare the time, please let me know your take and how you think I should proceed. Thanks. -Matt

  2. I have switched to a spinning rod and I will give the angles a try. I am stubborn on line size though. I tried 8 lb line and snapped off my lure on the hook set. I just can’t/wont use anything less than 12 lb test. I know it may not get as deep as using 6 lb test, but I also wont snap my line on the hook set. I already donate enough tackle to my local lakes as it is. But I will try the different retrieval angles for sure.

  3. Do you have a pre-tournament stretching routine? How about a gym video with fishing exercises? single arm cable pull hook sets? kettlebell 10lb lippers? bend over rod swaps, standing in one place for 2 hours. ancle exercises to improve foot pedal control. weighted wrist jerkers. back in the day had to do all that with one foot up on a block.

  4. I was given advice to stop setting the hook all together on these 110's with the stock Megabass hooks. And to set my drag very loose (baitcaster). Along with dropping to no more than 10lb Fluro. I stopped losing the bigger fish I was hooking after making these changes. Prior to the changes it seemed like most of the 4+lb Bass, especially Smallmouth, would jump or pull off. The hooks would always be bent after the first fish I hooked regardless of their size. Etc. It takes some getting used to. Not setting the hook (I just give the rod a firm slide) took some getting used to. But it made a big difference. I know you're a fan of swapping the hooks for the gamakatsu hooks. Again, i'm referring to the stock Megabass hooks.

The big problem I have now is Pike snipping me off. I'm hesitant to use a steel leader or even a heavy fluro leader because I don't want to affect the action of the bait. But I fish Champlain a lot and I've lost hundreds of dollars in 110's within a few hours the past couple years on multiple outings.

  5. Man, Randy, thank you for over delivering 100% juice. Between this video and the secret color recommended in the members video, I am going for broke and trying the 110. Trusting your experience, I am going to go with the Pro Blue and the other color you recommended. Where I fish, there are mostly smallmouth and walleye and I'm not sure if I should go with the 110 or 110 jr. If you, or any folks have any suggestions, I am all ears, as Ross Perot would say. Thanks.

  6. That's amazing!!! So if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have the Vision 110? Omg outstanding. Now go get some film of you catching fish on it instead of talking about how many fish you catch.

  7. Randy I just learned from this video that you helped design the vision 110.

You did an amazing job! The vision 110 is my #1 jerkbait.

Also want to add you are the one who influenced me to throw a jerkbait more and I learned how to fish it more effectively from you! Your skills with a jerkbait are definitely in the top 5 if not the #1 angler of all time.
