  1. Anytime anyone tells me anything about, how a specific area/water is "fishing"… I do the exact opposite. 🙂 Maybe it's the cynic in me, but either way… TRUST NO ONE! LOL

  2. I've been DQd once at St Lawrence River, my own fault for making a long run from Waddington to Clayton and not getting back in time. Mess up, accept it, move forward

  3. G-MAN got DQ'ED in the classic for something an angler gave him permission to do, and Trip and G are and were, at the time, very close friends. Pro bass fishing has brought these problems on themselves, but how can it get back on track if you never enforce the rules.

  4. It’s the same with the re-qualification for the Elites. I personally think the public (fans), should be able to see the cut line for the AOY standings. I even think BASS could use that cut line to help generate viewership. Last tournament of the year they could have cameras on the bubble boys just like the AOY leaders. I’ve spoke to BASS reps about this, and they have all said it’s all “kept in house” due to the negative consequences for the individual. Mostly sponsors.

  5. As for Scott, I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I do have a question about rule interpretation: I believe it’s okay for anglers competing against each other to talk about techniques, lures, etc., can they also go back at the end of the day and watch taped video of the day’s fishing that was broadcast to the public?

  6. No friends when there is money on the line. Makes me lol when I hear it’s the friend ship . My son and I use to fish this lake all the time. We did good most of the time then we learned there was a Friday night rodeo. My son was about 10 he loved competition and standing in line with our fish. We spent hours on the lake also put down tree tops and begin to win every Friday night. the contestants when we started loved my son and said it was wonderful to see the young man out there, but after we started winning things changed they didn’t even wanna talk to him and worse. We got excuse of cheating because we won so much. This is all part of tournament and fishing so take it or leave it but that is the way it’s gonna be.

  7. FYI, in the US, polygraph, as a rule, is not admissible in court, but there are exceptions in some states under specific conditions.
The Scott Martin thing is a bit of a mess, I believe Scott was pushed to thin. Having too many irons in the family fire. Not having the time to do the pre fishing and other things some of the fields can do, he was trying to find an eze way to fill in his gap in knowled. Weather, he thought he was breaking a rule under the Bassmaster playbook. They looked at it differently.
To be a top competitor in today's field, you need to focus 100% of your time and effort into this sport. Because if you don't, you will be left behind.
I'm not sure who makes the decision on rule breaking in Bassmasters. ( I thought it was the tournament director, but I'm not sure today) In today's social media , Why someone does not make an official announcement on camera instead of a written statement. Seems sterile and open to interpretation.
    Tight lines.
    Regards, Steven.

  8. Alot of people have been giving bass a hard time over Scott Martin. They don't want to have to DQ anglers because they need good anglers with big social media followers and fans as bad as they need BASS. With Scott there has been to much talk going back to FLW, something doesn't seem right with it to me. If he wanted to completely clear his name he should have just taken their test and been done with it. And I don't understand why he came to BASS to try and get a classic win for his Dad only to have a so called conversation with his family at this past classic about leaving BASS after this season. Just my opinion. Thanks for another good one.

  9. I would like to see BASS upper management take a lie detector test. I want to know if they have the sport and organization in mind when they make some some of their decisions. Do you think they would?

  10. It’s obvious that the other anglers on the elites had enough of SM and the way he conducted him self in the past and on the elites when it comes to the no information rule. We are just now hearing rumbling from the anglers on the things I’m sure they have known for years.

  11. I agree. I think people were use to "fudging" the rules. Now that they are being enforced hardcore its coming to light. I like Scotts product but I have no idea why you would do what you did with a complete stranger.

  12. Trey was DQ'ed for a railroad tressell no wakezone. This was not the exact same rule that applies to all or most bridges.

Listen up, Trey ran a railroad tressel bridge no wake zone. 2 yrs in a row. Whats the difference here? Treys violation was an "add on" at the anglers meeting. This is not a bridge known "no wake zone".
Understand? The infraction for that rule being added on at angler briefing is day catch disqualified.
Was this railroad tressel a major safety violation?
Was that bridge a safety violation? One is written in stone. The other was a add on.

  13. Always a good listen Steve. On paper, everything seems straight forward and easy to follow. But we're just outsiders. So much pressure. I could not sleep or live with myself by knowingly breaking any rules…. that I signed up for! Maybe some of the outcry we're seeing recently is because it's more publicized now then in the past; we've caught organizations hiding the cases when situations like this happens; or the true atmosphere of competitive bass fishing is now in the open for everyone to see. Do we need a secondary party to oversee rule violations? Do the anglers need to form a union and have a separate group handle these situations? Then it has nothing to due with sponsorships, affiliations, or time on the trail. … so on. (?)

  14. Honesty and Integrity, in my opinion, are vital. Maybe it's the Marine Corps in me? I miss the days of the pros having both. Look back to 2004 at KY lake. Mark Mendez called Trip Weldon to notify him that he,Mendez, had violated KY law. He knew his catch would be disqualified and had the Integrity to make the call. Much respect for those who have such Integrity.

  15. Here’s something that’s really rampant on tour. Let’s say you’re fishing “ someone else else’s spot “ that angler gets all his buddies to run to BASS, to basically snitch. Make up anything you want here, so what does BASS do ? Administer a polygraph…… people have failed polygraph before when they were telling the truth.. you need to do a deep dive into the Mike Iaconelli versus Jim, bitter feud

  16. I’m a Martin fan, but listening to the comments from many people closer to the Elite levels than me, it sounds like BASS has given him more than enough second chances.
