On a cold calm sunny day when your fishing in the winter and the sun starts feeling good to you. I always figured bass are up shallow feeling that sunlight just like you are.
I grew up fishing in Oklahoma and was always of the mindset that you had to go deep on the bright sunny days. I moved to Colorado and after awhile I found a place I could bass fish. Not long after ice out I was at my fishing hole and it was still very cold but sunny and calm. I started seeing fish in less than a foot of water. Now I live in Arkansas and in the winter if we are sunny and calm I'm always going shallow and catching fish.
Thanks for this insight, Miles. I experience this a lot here in FL.
question then, what type of bait do you choose, when its calm, sunny. ( topwater, shallow cranks, jerkbait???)
I agree. Cold sunny and calm conditions for the cold water months produce some of the best bites … worst conditions add a light breeze with the sun.
This rings true. Thanks!
Thanks
More videos on Florida fishing
How do you like to fish in that “witch’s hair”? I despise it and it’s spreading in a few of the lakes I fish here in NC
Can you do a video on fishing blueback herring lakes in the winter?
Great video… and very true. Here in central Florida it's not as much how cold affects the bass… but how it affects the baitfish. Throw something that looks like a baitfish that is cold and the bass is more convinced to hit it.
👍👍👍👍👍
I like the calm sunny winter days. Its warmer for me.
Funny this is exactly how i fished today on Toledo Bend and caught a few shallow and 2 in 15 ft.
Appreciate your time
I've preferred calm sunny days in late fall/winter for years. And I noticed this fall that the fish here in North Texas were tight to weed beds on cloudy days and roaming on sunny days, they must watch your videos too.
Do you ever throw 6” and bigger swimbaits? Soft and Glide. That would be a good topic.
Miles, thank you! Would you consider doing a video on Jerkbait fishing in 40-45 degree water. I'm in Indiana an struggling to catch Bass. I'm fishing the main lake, maybe i need to be in the Creeks. Thanks again, thanks for all you do.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Makes perfect sense.
That makes sense particularly fishing shallow
