My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/
I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for ten MLF Championships and won almost a million dollars in tournament winnings at the professional level.
Back when the chatterbait first came out, this was my go-to trailer. Might have to go back to it because I Caught a ton of fish.
Would you say this or a rage swimmer is better for prespawn bass both by itself or as a spinnerbait/chatterbait trailer?
Similar to Fat Alberts?
Cut my fishing teeth on Mr. Twister grubs way back when.
I used to never not have a chartreuse one tied in. Best white bass lure ever.
Great video & awesome tips!!! Lesson well learned and will keep!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!

this past year i've had stellar success catching pike on 1-inch grubs on a ball-head. this season, i'll grab a few bigger ones. thanks for the vid.
Kalins was my bread and butter for 20 years but the boot tail just caught a little bigger fish. But with preasure i will experament this year and see if my old number 1 has flipped the script and gets a bigger class than the boot tail. The grub was always better on a spinnerbait for me.
I caught my only musky, a tiger on a white 3 inch grub. Caught a pile of bass as well on the mr. Twister
I have caught a lot of nice smallies on a 5” Yamamoto grub with a plain old ball head jig and for some stupid reason like everyone else I just quit using them but I think that I will have to resurrect them this year lord knows I have enough of them.
It has always been a very versatile bait. I think fisherman have fallen in love with new soft baits that are so realistic. New soft baits looks so good to our eye so they must fool fish better. New "clone" baits are so expensive, we can always go back to economical curly tail grubs and catch fish.
I still refer to them as a Mr. Twister regardless of the brand. I put them on the small Strike King buzz baits. Extremely effective.
Nice choice for a video
Northern Illinois, mid summer last year, put a 3” chartreuse grub on a bladed jig, first cast 3 1/2lbr in an industrial park pond. Good times.

Look at this thing, rigged tail down it has an enticing wobble like a baitfish. Probably the best overall multi-species lure. I'll let out another relatively unknown bait, the Bobby Garland Slab Huntr. It has a tail action unlike any other plastic ive seen, and also has the subtle wobble like a baitfish. The tail moves at all retrieval speeds
I fish for spots out here and in late summer a single tail grub on a splitshot rig pendulum to the bottom and drag it back. Killer
Yup, when I bring the lady along with me I either tie on a 2, 3, or 4 inch grub on her rod and guess who usually catches the most fish
I still use it all the time too, foolproof way to catch a few fish.
I have a friend that Neko rigs 4/5" twist tail grubs. He uses a band to attach the hook (drop shot hook) and a 1/32 or 1/16 oz nail weight. Kills smallies in a local river.
Spent 20 yrs in the PacNW before moving here to TX. My brother and I have probably caught more fish on the 4" Yamamoto (color #176) than any other bait!
Skunk buster when things get tuff keep it simple.
When I was a kid and the Mister Twister curly tailed grub was introduced in probably 1972 it became my Favorite bait for Smallmouth all I needed to catch a bunch of fish from my canoe was a yellow Mister Twister on a 1/4 ox jig head and a Mepps Aglia in red and white. Today I carry way more tackle than I need and even use.
Used to throw that bait in the past and kinda forgot about it. Thanks for bringing it back up
Kalins or zoom fat Alberta are my top grubs.
Got schooled by a grn pumpkin grub vs my senco. Ill never forget that day…..thx for sharing.Go! MSF!
My gf grabbed some up at walmart. We were sitting at this waterfall spot on our river we hang out. I tied on the yum twister tail she got tossed it under the waterfall and slammed a bass in probably 6 inches of water. Lol.
Been using them for years. Have a Kalin or Yamamoto single tail on the deck every trip. I rig using the Core tackle you mentioned, pegged Texas rig in bushes and drop shot. Keep up the good work!!
Who ever invented this grub was a Genius
Man, I used to catch a ton of fish on the Kalins grub. I still have a bunch. I should pull them out.
Single tail grub on a dart head, or a Tush, is called swimming a grub in California. Slow roll it across the bottom. Great smallmouth bait!
John McHatton
Good jig and Chatterbait trailer. W
W the humongous orange one for musky and pike!!!
Cabela's sold the soft head curly tail jig in the eighties. I can't tell you how many bass/ crappie I caught on those. The round jig head fit inside the curly tails head, hence the name soft head.
Probably should have used it at Rayburn
