Watts Bar Lake – Tennessee B.A.S.S Nation – Tough Day of Tournament Fishing

Only a loss if you don’t learn anything from it.

Several great anglers didn’t fair too well in this one. It was a very tough day of fishing. Out of 75 Anglers, only 13 caught limits. 27 didn’t catch a thing. So I’m grateful for what I was able to come up with despite a few mistakes that could have been avoided.

I couldn’t find a bite on a jig so I had to cover water with moving baits. Lost two early on a red lipless. Gathered myself and caught one on a jerkbait and one on that red lipless on docks. Last 30 mins went to the very back of a pocket and it was LOADED with baitfish. Hooked into a good one with 20mins left but my drag was WAY WAY WAY loose. By the time I fixed it, it was too late. The adjustments I made were way too late in the day. Just a tough day.

Lesson: Don’t overlook the power of RED in the colder months. It gets bit you just gotta get the fish in the boat.

Ended up 19th of 44 anglers in TNKATT and 34th of 75 Anglers in TNBNKS. Hoping to turn it around at the next one.
