I got me a northern snake on a duck but it wasn't the one you were using It was the smaller one with hooks like a frog rather then that crazy big one with the treble hook

And use a buzz bait or whopper plopper and like the person under me says you got to wait a couple secs cause they have teeth they bite then eat
It's not the hook placement it's definitely just you and that you suck at fishing. Because I use these lures all the time and never have a problem catching fish. You seem to be an unexperienced fisherman and have not learned how to properly use that lure.

Snakeheads are not the only fish that eat baby ducks. Largemouth Bass do, Northern Pike do. Just about any fish that can fit one in its mouth will eat one.
3seconds before hookset bro.
When fishing snakehead u need to wait atleast 3 to 5 sec to hookset the fish or if it miss try twitching it so it can follow up another strike

Next time use a soft plastic frog bait for the snakehead they eat frog real good.

Hopefully IF you manage to catch a Snakehead you don't throw them back, being that they are an invasive species and it's illegal to release them back into the water.
Those were BEAUTIFUL peacock bass though. Pretty decent size too for just little ponds. I was even getting frustrated for you, lol. I've never used those to fish with but it looked infuriating! That snakehead though was big too for a pond. Someone is clearly feeding them lol
