This was the final day of prefishing for me and it turned out a lot better than the last time I fished out there. This time I had the idea to try using a deep diving jerkbait working it along tree stumps. Water depth was anywhere between 6-8 feet then could drop down to 20 foot in a matter of seconds. They seemed to like the 6 foot range the best. It was such a fun day using the Rapala Shadow Rap to find fish! Defiantly a nice change of pace coming from a speed worm all the time. Looking forward to using more new techniques in the future.

How do I get in these local kayak tournaments???
Iโm from the area and have a kayak I would love meeting up and fishing man I got a awesome spot 15 min from where this video is at small creek thatโs great for toads Iโd love to get some wisdom from ya
Do you know if you can use a trolling motor on your kayak now at Fellsmere if you launch at the kayak launch?
Green gizzard shad is the color I think. I have a couple of the same.
Those hooks are junk. Get yo self some G Finesse #5's. If they even think about biting they will get hooked.
I know those stumps lol
Hey Chris – one final thing. When using your suspending jerk bait, try a "snap, snap, pause…." cadence. I've found the vast, vast, majority of the time, hits come after the pause. And, start your cadence right from the start to establish the depth where the bass are holding. Bass are far more likely to hit these suspending jerk baits looking up, rather than looking down, like with a plastic worm. As for pause duration, sometimes a short pause gets the job done while other times a long pause will work better. Lastly, don't be afraid of using suspending jerk baits with some "louder" hues in it like Chartreuse, White, or Fire Tiger, especially if the water is stained some. Good luck Buddy. If they're hitting suspending jerk baits in the stumps, you ought to kill 'em!
Good for you Chris! Learning new techniques as you fish different lakes makes you a "Pro!". I love suspending jerk baits! The one bad thing about jerk baits is that you can't horse 'em in. Those tiny hooks pull out very easily, so just keep your rod pointed down near the water and reel 'em in slowly.
Do you have tips for a kid fishing youtuber like me? If you can give me suggestions on my videos I would highly appreciate it I am looking to get better and I like your content a lot!!
Yay your on my home water! Rodman has some awesome fishing!
You wore them out Chris. Those jerkbait hooks are fragile and easy to bend out!
Seat is so low on the outback, that's one of the main reasons I switched to a PA. Also, barely any deck space to measure fish and what not.
I know alot of guys are going to spinning gear for jerkbaits, I may have to try it because I'm like you losing way more fish
Anything I buy from Rapala I immediately change the hooks.
Def should adjust the setup if you're gonna fish the jerkbait in the tournament , use mono or fluro 12-15lb on a medium rod and loosen your drag and you'll loose less fish. Great vid tho cool to see you figuring them out
Gators ever mess with you?
How is the Outback's stability compared to the AP120 while standing?
With my Compass the thin plastic flexes under my feet and makes it wobbly sometimes.
