Ok brother for fresh water fishing you should only have to do a quick flick of the wrist so your rod at the top will jerk about 2 feet that's all, I've had to teach My son's this as well because you don't want to jerk it out of their mouth or rip off their lips LoL, but you do need to set it to where they can't just spit it out ok

I fished a bass one time and caught a PB in lake Okeechobee. It was illegal but I did not know it at the time. The bass I caught was 12lbs. But actually catch most of all my personal best on live bait. God speed my friend love your little show good job.
