In this 9 July excursion to an MDC (public) pond in Henry County, MO, some decent bass were coaxed into striking top water (Up) Z-Man Finesse Frog and sinking (Down) Bear Paws 4″ Hippie Sticks (Senko style lure).
Unlike the past several drought years, it has rained almost every other day in the first half of July. Nonetheless, this shallow pond has yet to recover from the low conditions of last year and extensive lily pads and hydrilla continue to be problematic.
Rudie Tootie, Papillon Fishing Trip Advisor, was instrumental (as always) in suggesting what lures to use for this pond. How he does it I’ll never understand hahaha.
