I probably would’ve tried putting on a crankbait that got to the depth I wanted then throw some wire around the trebles and try to suspend the crankbait
theres a jerkbait that has a bill upside down, I think Berkeley makes it and you let it sink and then slowly pull it up away from fish and they hit it

I think what was going on was there may have been a shad kill with the cold water so the bass might have thought it was a dying shad

When shad and other fish start to die, usually their swim bladder is affected first. I’ve seen them try to swim down and keep floating to the surface. Maybe that’s it?

Awesome video Ben! What’s your thoughts on a Carolina rig with a super long leader and a z-man 5” jerk shad (floats) in shiner for the color. You could play with the hook size to change the float speed. Just a thought 🤔 What a bizarre bite though! Perfect example of the power of the scope! Without it someone would have to get extremely lucky to figure out such a bizarre bite!
