don't forget, there's a 1 rod 2 hook maximum when targeting rockfish from both shore and vessel. ALSO, did you know there's a CA reg for assist hooks too? IGFA rules state that: "Assist hooks or other such single hooks that are attached to a lure with a lead constructed of monofilament, multifilament, wire or other such material must conform to the following: When using assist hooks on any artificial lure, other than a skirted lure, the lead cannot be more than 1 ½ hook's length and the bend of the hook may not be more than 4 inches (101 mm), whichever is less, from the closest point of attachment on the lure. Double and treble hooks may not be used as assist hooks." now you know!

my favorite is lancer jigs
How heavy of a lead head for plastics to get down to 500’ down?
where can I find that giant sanddab jig?!?!?
Nothing caught me more large Lingcod than large swim baits.
I usually use the Max Shad or Gigabite from Lighthouse Lures.
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
Does your buddy still make and sell those lunker lords lingcod leaders?
This video was helpful…thank you
thank you
What size of swim baits and what size lead head?
Great video. Nothing better than bottom fishing.
Hello I'm new to your fishing YouTube channel 👍🎣 I love Pier fishing I also use the spoons and the metal iron jigs I also fish swim baits but not as big as the ones you have what size oz swim baits are they
If you can get any lure in front of a lingcod, they will bite. These cost $$$ galore.
Try making lures out of junk metal. It works.
how bout those copper pipe jigs? one of those, with a couple hooks above and and my word…
Thnku
Those Flatfalls and sk jigs are great for tuna as well
Buzz Bombs have been most successful for me.
The westin sand dab is deadly out at the farralon islands where some big lings hang out – the other westins for trophy lings I'd recommend are the crazy daisy 430 gram in the fancy cola color, lively & glow gadus & the robocod – this last 1 mocks a juvenile salmon & they hammer it – beef up your leader to a 60 or even 80 lb for teeth. I bought the Bobs big boy too but havent used it yet its a ft & a half long. I also wanted to HIGHLY recommend another spro bucktail Ive had nothing but success with. 1 oz (for its thicker hk) the 1/2 oz & 3/4 oz both hammer both lings & rockcod but Ive straightened a few of these hks on bigger vermillion (which love the gold chrome color pattern) so I called Spro & a very helpful guy told me the exact hooks used in each size. 1 oz & up are beefier stout hooks. Trying the 1 oz & 2 oz sizes next trip. I always hook a squid head (just the head) right between the eyes onto this bucktail so it trails in-line & adds volume, movement & scent & it never lets me down – the biggest plus – lings slam it too. I put 2 of these onto a home made 6 ft double dropper loop set up of 60 lb fluoro & I always get hit immediately after hitting bottom w this set up (if there is any bite at all). The whole rig to make is under $12.00. I also put a drop or 2 of super glue onto the whipping which holds the bucktail in place because they really do hit these things hard & can cut the thread w their teeth. Leader: 6 ft mono, double dropper loops at 2' & 4', & the top & bottom get triple overhand loop knots – less hardware. I also always add bloody tuna scent to mask any scent I may add in handling. A 12 oz torpedo weight shoots em down to the bottom b4 the rest on the party boat & that can make a very big difference.
Great information. Thank you for taking the tkme
Dope
What lb leader do you use with these lures?
Outstanding video , Great underwater action on the lures…Thank you…
Very informative. Thanks for the video!!!
one thing i think would be better is a torpedo sinker cause the lead balls get stuck on bottom really easily and the torpedos dont.
Thank you for the video already learned a lot enjoyed it
Very informative video great job. What is the name of that Sand dab lure?
Where did you get the sand dab rig?
What do you do with a lingcod's head?
https://youtube.com/shorts/QR2ItlvCMxs?feature=share
I liked the little flasher. I am not a fan of snap swivels. Straight tie for me.
Would you kindly show how to fish lingcod in salt water? Thanks.
Well done video Ish! Thanks so much!
