Two Baits. Four Target Species. One Sandy Beach.

Can This Sandy Beach Produce a Surprise? | Shanklin Sea Fishing
Today I’m fishing Shanklin Beach on the Isle of Wight, with just two baits — ragworm and sandeels.
The plan is to see if I can find a few different species, with sole and bream in my sights on the lighter two-hook clipped-down rig, while a second rod gives me the chance of something bigger like a bass or ray.
I’m using 20lb fluorocarbon snoods with size 4 Mustad worm hooks on the smaller rig, while the heavier setup is a 40lb up-and-over with 1/0 Tronixpro Octopus and 1/0 Kamasan B950U hooks.
With the westerly winds we’ve been having, I’m hoping the mixed ground around this sandy beach might be enough to bring a few fish within range.
But will Shanklin produce?

• 2-hook clipped-down rig
• 20lb fluorocarbon snoods
• Size 4 Mustad worm hooks
Bass & Ray Rig:
• 40lb up-and-over rig
• 1/0 Tronixpro Octopus hook
• 1/0 Kamasan B950U hook
• Approx. 2m total snood length
