Tricking Early Spring Iowa Bass

Welcome back to TWI Fishing everyone!

In this episode I venture back to the same lake in Central Iowa that I went to last weekend. After starting in the same spot as last week and being unsuccessful, I began to scramble. I fished four different spots on the lake that I felt these pre-spawn bass would be at (or very close to). After finding countless schools of panfish and very few bass, I finally settled down on a stretch of bank protected from the wind. I did not catch a ton of bass, but the ones I did catch were fat and healthy! Today’s trip on a highly pressured bass lake was successful using a bait that I haven’t used much (especially since getting livescope). The subtleness and natural look was the ticket to catch these bass!

Water Temperatures: 53-56 degrees (South End of Lake v.s. North End)
Weather: mid 50’s, wind out of north 10-15
Front going through during day; ended up being close to 70 degrees and wind out of South later in day.

Bait: swimjig with 2.8 inch swimbait, shaky head with green pumpkin worm
