Top 5 Finesse Swimbaits For Bigger Spring Bass

Can TINY swimbaits catch BIG bass? You better believe it! Learning how to use small swimbaits as part of your finesse fishing arsenal is a key to consistent success during the ever-changing Spring fishing season. With rain storms, flood waters, and cold snaps, Spring brings a lot of challenges for bass fishing but if you know how to turn to the finesse swimbait, a lot of the struggle can be avoided.

In recent years the market has been flooded with tiny swimbaits. Every brand makes one and many brands make 2 or 3. How do you know which baits are worth your time? In today’s video we narrow it down to a few select baits. These are the baits that are consistent producers and that provide unique actions you won’t find in most of the swimbaits on the market.

Knowing exactly which swimbait to throw on a given day will require some practice but remember that the softer the bait, the more likely it will continue to kick well in cold water. The harder the bait, the more likely it will provide a strong vibration in warm water. Below is a breakdown of the heads, baits, and colors that we use when we’re finesse swimbait fishing.

  1. I bet that "Dark Sleeper" would slam huge picky brown trout as well, cause a goby and a sculpin look so very similar. In the Norfork and White rivers in Arkansas, we use sculpin and sculpin imitations quite a bit. Some of those smart giant browns, it seems that's all they eat, just like some big bass with trout.
Anyhow, thanks for the videos man, I enjoy watching your stuff. Alot of your California tactics work well in Bull Shoals Lake.

  2. Hey I know you guys have tried just about everything but if you’re looking for a swim bait that kicks with some body roll the Yum Pulse Swimbait is a pretty good option. It’s ribbed so it moves a pretty good amount of water. Give it a shot if you haven’t already!

  3. Did u know they’re actually pronounced Kaytech? I’m serious, look it up, but who gives a crap, I’m gonna keep callin em kiiiii techs along with Matt and Tim and everybody else who isn’t a nerd like me! 🤣🤣🤣lol

  4. What size bare jig head would you recommend for the D-Walker 120. Would you still prefer the bare jig head over an underpin. If you do use a flashy swimmer what size would be best for the same bait. Thank you guys for the videos and all the great help. Hope you both and your family's are staying safe and health. God Bless
