Can TINY swimbaits catch BIG bass? You better believe it! Learning how to use small swimbaits as part of your finesse fishing arsenal is a key to consistent success during the ever-changing Spring fishing season. With rain storms, flood waters, and cold snaps, Spring brings a lot of challenges for bass fishing but if you know how to turn to the finesse swimbait, a lot of the struggle can be avoided.
In recent years the market has been flooded with tiny swimbaits. Every brand makes one and many brands make 2 or 3. How do you know which baits are worth your time? In today’s video we narrow it down to a few select baits. These are the baits that are consistent producers and that provide unique actions you won’t find in most of the swimbaits on the market.
Knowing exactly which swimbait to throw on a given day will require some practice but remember that the softer the bait, the more likely it will continue to kick well in cold water. The harder the bait, the more likely it will provide a strong vibration in warm water. Below is a breakdown of the heads, baits, and colors that we use when we’re finesse swimbait fishing.

What colour d-walker paddle tail was swimming at 8:49? Is that the PB red or the silverside?
Question on the dark sleeper, can I throw it on my 7'3 Heavy Fast frog/swimbait rod with 15# fluorocarbon? I've been throwing it on a 7' MH Fast with 15# fluorocarbon.
Keitech Fat Swing Impact is the sh*& but they don't last very long, sometimes only one fish and these things destroyed !!!!
People want kietec but it so expensive for the normal angler
❤💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Which size swammer do you recommend?
5:09 Matt just flashed all of us😂😂😂
I bet that "Dark Sleeper" would slam huge picky brown trout as well, cause a goby and a sculpin look so very similar. In the Norfork and White rivers in Arkansas, we use sculpin and sculpin imitations quite a bit. Some of those smart giant browns, it seems that's all they eat, just like some big bass with trout.
Anyhow, thanks for the videos man, I enjoy watching your stuff. Alot of your California tactics work well in Bull Shoals Lake.
What about the more subtle KVD SWIM-N-SHINER 4” green gizzard .
Hey I know you guys have tried just about everything but if you’re looking for a swim bait that kicks with some body roll the Yum Pulse Swimbait is a pretty good option. It’s ribbed so it moves a pretty good amount of water. Give it a shot if you haven’t already!
Awesome as always 👏
I noticed the offset blades on the mega bass , it gives off a nice wobble and distress, I'm.loving those, use them when I can't use spybait 👍
nice vid Matt , I believe we chatted when I owned Xzone
Omfg 5:08 Matt pull your pants up my guy! Lol
Did u know they’re actually pronounced Kaytech? I’m serious, look it up, but who gives a crap, I’m gonna keep callin em kiiiii techs along with Matt and Tim and everybody else who isn’t a nerd like me! 🤣🤣🤣lol
Matt the Keitech swimbait it work perfect yesterday catch a 9 pound thank you for your show the tip
I have all of those swimbaits now, my wallet has a massive hole in it too, thanks tb…🤨🤣
What size swimbait would u pair with a 1/16, 3/0 hook Okashira Screwhead?
Is the Megabass Dark Sleeper worth the extra cost vs the the Savage Gear 3D
Paddletail?
I usually use the rage tail swimbaits… are kitechs…. really that good?
What size bare jig head would you recommend for the D-Walker 120. Would you still prefer the bare jig head over an underpin. If you do use a flashy swimmer what size would be best for the same bait. Thank you guys for the videos and all the great help. Hope you both and your family's are staying safe and health. God Bless
Always give a finesse swimbait a chunk when things get tough… Our prespawn Smallmouth bite gets downright stupid on swimbaits, and it’s about to go down ~
Can you explain why and when to fish swimsuits over say other plastics and baits? Thanks
I will need more storage boxes for all this new tackle on these videos. Great info as always, especially on products we can see/watch you guys use on your boat.
