Bass are in transition in September. As water temperatures drop, the bass move to their Fall haunts and begin feeding heavily. If you’re not paying attention to their movements the bite can be amazing one day and leave you scratching your head the next but with these baits you know you’re showing them the right lures to keep catching fish. Throw them with confidence in likely locations to find success all month long!
September can be amazing topwater fishing! It can also be an amazing time to throw subsurface lures that imitate small baitfish. We spend very little time finesse fishing in September, instead leaning on fast moving, power fishing techniques to get consistent bites. The best part about September is that as you build patterns toward the end of the month, those patterns are likely to last all the way through the Fall and into the beginning of Winter.
Below you’ll find links to the baits Tim discussed in the video. We’ve included our favorite sizes and colors for each, as well as some great budget rod and reel combos to fish them effectively. #September #bassfishing #lures
2:48 what’s your reason for thinking bass are more aggressive in September compared to August? I thought once we have fall turnover, the oxygen is nearly cut in half throughout the water column
Deep crank,jerk bait,and creature bait 7 to 8 inch,last is a tube bait weightless .
Alabama rig
Jig and super spook jr
Yep spinner blade running rapala 6 fts to ten x d a beaver a slow action swimbaits just craw dad.
Did you repaint your boat….if so did you use automotive paint
Thank you Tim for the tip on keeping your popper ready to throw when you see blow ups. I used your technique twice this week on the California delta & I can't remember how many I caught this way? It was in the double digits & mostly dinks but it worked. I just want to say thank you Tactical Bassin, Mat & Tim for all your videos & tips for I am new to the sport of lure fishing . Your channel has really help me to grow in the sport of kayak fishing in the last 2 years.
I think megabass dark sleeper is a great bait to use and the willow vibe is also great choice ,I watch a lot of fishing videos and you and Matt are hands down my favorite to watch , you 2 explain with great detail which is important for amateur fisherman
I like the jerk bait , frog , all kind of crank baits
Fluke , spinner bait , frog
My favorite fall baits are spinnerbaits and jerkbaits and grubs
A 3/4 oz spoon thrown in a boil of chasing fish usually gets bit. You can throw it a mile.
SLEEPER GILL X PLOPPERS X DARK SLEEPERS
Texas is it's own region / country / everything when it comes to bass Fishing lol
Hey Tim, love yours and Matt's videos. You guys have given me alot of pointers and knowledge to Advance my Bass fishing techniques.
I'm up in kinda the north part of the country in Oregon. I fish alot of old rock quarry's that have the same type of environment as a river system, rock bluffs, rock piles, LOTS of vegetation (grass, mill foil, coon tail, Lilly pads, reeds, trees, brush piles) and the water system has lots of channels where they had dug it out with backhoes. Deep holes upwards of 40ft all the way to shallow holes as deep as 12inchs when the water drops.
My favorite baits to use this time of year that I get bit the most on are
1. Jigs
2. Underspin
3. Spinner bait
4. Fluke
5. Wacky-rig
6. (Bonus) walking bait or popper
3.
Excellent information as always! Thanks again!
If you took all the time throwing a small swimbait on a jig head, compared to a underspin ,the time would be close but the amount of fish I've caught on just the jighead/swimbait would be tripled.I know that seems weird but I've experimented on good bites in different lakes and for me it's always the same.Im sure if I fished the schoolies all the time ,the underspin/swimbait would probably be more productive. When their busting I'm throwing top water almost exclusively tho,and maybe a glide or jerkbait OCCASIONALLY.
The Zoom Fluke is one of those baits I've got to have fishing in West TN this time of year. Cheap, easy to rig different ways, and they work so well.
Excellent video as always Tim!!! Great advice that I will be applying tomorrow!!! We moved from VA to FL about 6 months ago and we're trying to adapt to the bass fishing down here!!! Have caught quite a few so far but nothing too crazy!!! I'm going to keep at it though!!! Thanks for the awesome content!!! 💯🙌🎣👊
1. Soft swimbait
2. Spinner bait
3. Glide bait
4. Jerk bait
5. A rig
Love the videos guys! Top water has been on 🔥 up here in MA for a few weeks now. I’ve been throwing the 125 shower blows. Ill have to pick up a few of the 105s
Would the new Expride B 6'10MHF he a good full size walking bait/topwater rod?
