Dropping water and fading daylight made this after-work trip to Lake Perris a race to find a bite. A small stretch of shallow water finally produced four bass, including a nice 3.08-pound fish!

I headed out on November 2, 2026, with very little daylight after the time change. With the water level dropping quickly, I moved through flats on the east and northeast side without finding fish. I also tried standing dead trees in about 20 feet of water, but couldn’t get a bite there either.

The action finally came in just 2–4 feet of water. I hooked five fish and landed four before calling it an evening. Not too bad for a short window after work!

Follow along for the search, the adjustments, and a few bites before dark.

When the water drops in the fall, do you stay shallow or move deeper? Let me know in the comments.
