  1. Hi Roland, I am 63, I have been watching you since the 70s and now fish small tournaments. I enjoy watching you, Martin and Hillary. What great family values. Keep up the good work yaโ€™ll as I learn so much from all of you. Thank you!!!

  2. Thanks for the detailed swimbait lesson Mr. Martin, this is one bait that I find myself struggling to consistantly catch fish on!!!
I catch bass on swimbaits once in a while but it is far from a confidence bait for me. Next time I tie on on I will implement your tactics and see if I can get bit more!!!
Also I feel this will help me more with my saltwater inshore artificials as well.

  3. What to you is a long cast? 80 feet? 120 feet? 150 feet. Bait caster only. I know you can get further with a spinning reel, but Iโ€™m not very accurate with spinning on long distances .

  4. Hi Roland I enjoy your video as usual, but let me ask you by putting black colour on your line it makes visible while I am trying to use fluocarcon line to make invisible, that confuse me a bit what do think.

  5. Love these tips! Been watching the channel and took our vacation on Kentucky Lake last week, caught the biggest fish on the Senko 297! I tried the Zako and lost one at the side of the boat ๐Ÿ™ Cumberland is our next trip!

  6. You can fix any swim bait to take more fish by melting lines on either side before the tail with a hot soldering iron so the tail has less rigidity and swims through the water more naturally, dont suck up the fumes from the melting bait or you will end up as silly as Jimmy Houston. It is/was a well kept secret of tournament anglers in Australia. Alternatively put the tails in boiling water can also loosen them up.

  7. Hey Roland, here's an idea for a fishing video that no one ever makes. Explain how many casts you make in a given day. How to maximize your time on the water. Cast to strike ratios. How to be realistic about what to expect. People watch these fishing shows and think you are just pulling them out one after the other. And you probably are. Being one of the greatest fisherman in history! But for the average angler, they see these shows and can get discouraged when they don't see those kind of results.

  8. Hey Roland, I really love your videos on here and I always pick up some tips from them. Personally I'm just a beginner fisher using whatever is on sale at the store but I have got a pretty decent 6'6" Ugly Stick Spinning rod reel that I like. I'd love to get a baitcaster rod some day but first I'd have to learn how to use them (and afford a good one, buy once cry once). You have some great videos on them and so do other people on Youtube just wanted to say thank you for those videos, you really inspire me to be a better fisherman. Thank you for everything you do and have done for the fishing world.

  9. Thanks for the swim bait tips Roland I appreciate it. I fish a heavy action 7'2" rod and a 7.1 reel ratio. I just haven't had much luck here in southern Ohio with a swim bait but I will definitely try your tips out and see if it does any better. Thanks!

  10. Until I moved to Florida, I used spinning gear more than baitcasting gear. Now, I rarely use spinning gear for bass. Most of the lakes I fish are shallow and choked with weeds. All have big bass. I use only braided line. I started coloring my line black based on a tip from you. I also have seen tests done with line colors in tannic water and black performs best followed by dark green and brown. For those who have not seen tannic water, picture a glass of medium brewed tea. It's usually clear water, just colored.

  11. 42 years old and been watching Roland from day one. Big difference between Roland and the rest. The old school guys like Bill dance and Jimmy Houston fish in their own private lakes catching bass that haven't seen lures that would hit a soda can. Roland has always caught giant bass from highly pressured public lakes and anyone who fishes knows there's no comparison between the two. You're undeniably the goat Roland. Try to save a few nice ones for me when I come to Okeechobee. Peace man. โœŒ

  12. our local lakes are not very good for these tec hniques . We just do not have the weed /grass cover . One little patch of lilly pad in about 2 ft of water . boat dock we got by the score , and the is the most likely cover in this lake . There is some riprap in a couple places and theat can be good at timesThe lakes are sort of shallow too not real good for wintering over fish . the average water depth is about six feey over a big part of the lake . there are a couple of deeper spots that got 15 -18 feet .The Water shed is in the process of dredgeing the lake to clear the silt out of it . I do not know how much depth that will add , but I think it will be in the range of 4-6 ft. I'm looking forward to fishing again when the dredging is completed . I love to watch all of your tips and tricks , and learned to tie uni knots from your videos , so it is time well spent to watch and I've learned many things from you . Juat wanted to say thank you for what you are doing .

  13. I got my brand new! Spro Frog and tied it on 50-pound test Diawia brait, and made my first looooong cast. A big ass Gater ate my Spro, Whelpp that was 10 dollars down the drain lol….
