  1. If you're having fun I guess that's all that matters. But I'll always have the opinion that it's not being a real outdoorsman with your head buried down in a screen the whole time and not admiring nature and being outdoors.

  2. Not into ffs and rather have tournaments fished with more skill in mind in favor of tech. If you can afford it then to each their own though and it probably is fun to see underwater. I have a $300 kayak and no electronics and every day out fishing is exciting to me. In just 1 and a half years of getting addicted to bass fishing I caught almost 700 bass in my river. 560 this year alone. Ive had amazing days and tough days but I feel like I learn so much using just the skills Ive learned and putting in work. Youtube videos have helped me wonders. Your channel is awesome. Having fun while fishing is the main key.

  3. Hey Brian,

This is a fascinating and complex topic, especially as technology continues to evolve. I understand the appeal of forward-facing sonar (FFS) as a tool for anglers, especially those new to the sport. It can certainly enhance the fishing experience, especially for those who might need a bit of assistance.

However, I'm concerned about the potential long-term impact of FFS on competitive fishing. It seems to shift the focus from traditional angling skills and knowledge to technological prowess. While it may level the playing field for some, it could also create an unfair advantage for those who rely heavily on the technology.

I think it's important to strike a balance between embracing innovation and preserving the core values of fishing. Perhaps there's a way to regulate FFS use in competitive settings to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all.

Ultimately, the goal should be to promote ethical and sustainable fishing practices that respect the sport and the environment.

  4. I have FFS installed on my boat and I actually hate to FISH with it. What it does do for me is help scan water much faster than traditional graphing. I mark brush piles, rock piles, etc. and then back off and fish them in more a traditional manner.

  5. FFS has definitely helped me. You learn a lot about fish behavior. Like I tell others, it doesn’t guarantee that I’ll catch the fish but it confirms where I think the bait/fish are and helps me avoid wasting time on the water. I’ve also learned that sometimes FFS works against you and you need to stop looking at the screen and just cast.
