I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

I take off the trebelhook and put on a singel hook or a small offset worm hook and make it weed less with small earthworm imitation and then fish it just like the bladebait. Works for pearch here in sweden. But most ppl go for dropshot, ned or jerk here during the winter.

Better than Randy's Dec Top 5. Emphasize that bottom. Jerkbaits are out. Them depths not CA conducive. Umbrellas are for amaters. Lol. Big baits I say. I'll talk when I do my channel. For now, I'm a bum in debt and nobody believes me. Wa wa wa.
I've taken advantage of 50° weather here in the Chicago area the last 2 days. Yesterday I threw a football jig, a blade bait jerk baits with zero bites. Today I decided to try a Texas rigged Berkeley power worm, resulting in a 4lbs large mouth.
Matt . Question: between the blade bait and hair jig 1/16oz on a slip bobber, which will trigger more a reaction bite?
Matt. My local lake and pond here in Illinois (DuPage County) is still not frozen😮😮 i fished today – in DECEMBER! Not sure if people driving by thought I was dumb or stupid or not mentally well for fishing. Anyhow, I will try these blade baits and see if I grt a strike. Off topic: when is Core Tackle going to get tungsten rigs?
For me a finesse drop shot is even better than a blade when it is really cold
These were all great baits to try, love that i'm learning more about winter fishing prior to ice. I'm in Michigan so i have similar conditions as you.

This month I've had good luck with a PB&J football head jig. It's beginning to be my favorite. I keep Peanut Butter Jelly Time keyed up on my phone for when I catch a fish.😅
