Interesting observation
Fantastic observation!!
PB 11.1 frog, 10.2 crankbait, 9.9 buzzbait..
Same! At my local ponds there aren’t a ton of giants but there’s more than a few 5+ pounders that I’ve caught. All were on either a jig or a chatterbait/vibrating jig.
I wonder if it simulates fish or other forage subtly using thier fins or legs to hold themselves in position.
Caught a 9.5 this year on a worm with strands added to the end of the tail. I am a believer in your observation.
I don’t think it would hurt to try. Davey Hite’s living rubber jig comes to mind as a bait used in past.
Maybe it's the extra movement of the skirting material that makes it look more a live
My 3 biggest fish I’ve ever caught have came on a spinnerbait, chatterbait, and jig. 2 of my 3 biggest fish in 2024 have came on a swim jig with my biggest fish in 2024 coming on a Wobblehead. I think a lot of those skirted baits we typically fish with a soft plastic trailer. Therefore the soft plastic is your primary action and your skirt gives your bait a secondary action. I think there’s something to be said for secondary action.
I literally just caught my PB large mouth 6.5lb on a peanut butter 1 ounce jig this past weekend. I’m a believer!
I agree to a point….but my 4 or 5 biggest have been 2 on a crankbait….1 on jerkbait…1 on a jig and one on a big swimbait..so i dont know. Id say maybe skirted baits catch bigger than average fish but not any better for the true giants.
I agree with most but not so much the spinnerbait. I’ve caught lots of bigs on them but I’d say 1 out of 20 because I catch a lot of little ones. Those other lures seem to be more like 1 out of five is a big one.
I catch big ones on spinnerbaits buzzbaits and jigs but I’ve also caught my 2 biggest on a pop r, sooo I do agree with you for the most part
I’ve been looking for this today! Also, I’ve 100% noticed this especially in the last 6 months. Your certainly not alone, i’m just glad to hear it from you! Thanks man!
I'm interested in the Tharp series of casting rods. Which one would you recommend for light Texas rigs 3/8 oz.
