  1. Keep up the good fight Randy. 👍 This is why I tend to fish smaller city lakes that may be slightly muddy and filled with timber. That's where the big ones live anyway…more fun flipping a jig on a tree stump than spending hours driving back and forth trying to find a school.

  2. Honestly Randy I dont always agree with everything you say. But, I totally agree that livescope, boat traffic, and all of this other stuff is pushing fish deep. From my own personal experience i have been catching them and marking them in 60+ feet of water.

  3. Randy ! The reason I'm sending this info to your answer !! === also extreme loss of a lot of wooden structure all over the lake floor (( it's not a desert on the floor of the lakes. DH !

  4. I was talking to MY friend. He has been fishing for 60 years. He lives alone on a boat with all his fishing combos. He guides only professional fishermen. He has the record bass on all the lakes he fishes…
He doesn’t sleep. He fishes during the day and at night he walks into the lake and spends the night talking to the largest large mouths you’ve ever seen.
He drinks Dos X and he says your guy is full of bologna…

My guy taught your guy all he knows, but he didn’t teach him everything my guy knows….😂😂

  5. On Table Rock, because of it's clear water, Diving has always been popular. The best place to go for evidence is 'dive and recovery' services. Guys who have been diving and tree cutters for docks, recovery divers and avid hobbyists. They can tell you there's just not a lot of fish anymore like in years past. I had a very good friend on the Rock who passed away about 6 years ago. he spent decades diving in recovery services etc and, even 8-10 yrs ago, there was a large decline in bass populations. Get some real evidence Randy !

  6. I think it's 50/50 . Large mouth are warm water shallow water fish by nature. How do you explain the rapid decline or even crash in population like, here, on Chickamauga. It now only takes 12-14 lbs to make a top 3 or 5 in a tournament here. Not a single double digit bass has been weighed in in 2 or 3 years. BASS ruined it by ranking it the #2 lake in the country. Thousands upon thousands of tourists and locals have raped the resource to now, even local anglers don't want to fish anymore. Tournament participation has been in rapid decline. Bass and bait migrations up some river and creek locations are almost non existent. No more mega schools of bass to be found anywhere. .imo

  7. I would say bass are adapting to changes in their environment. I started working on being a better offshore angler bc a couple anticipated that I would need to be.
Better electronics and all has not changed the fact that lakes are getting pounded with bank beaters more than ever and easy to catch bass do t last long relating to shore. Fishing related to the bank has become WAY less productive as a result.
That’s part of what creates the demand for forward facing electronic tools.
The one saving grace is that the fish we pursue are masters of adaptation. Millions, literally, millions of years of changes and they were able to persist.
I believe they will continue to do so, and we’ll change with them.

  8. This makes absolute perfect sense. I challenge anglers to find unpressured private lakes or water that's off the grid. Those bass hit like the good old days. Forward facing sonar is a symptom of a much larger problem. It's just the bass fishing industry at large. All the crap all the marketing all the pressure. The responsibility falls back to managing the fishery and waterways.

  9. THEIR IT IS!! AND HE'S RIGHT AS RAIN! STUDIES AND DATA, TELLS A SMALL STORY ON THE BIG PICTURE! AND AT LEAST HALF THE TIME, A NEW STUDY WIIL TELL US THAT! THEIR IS NO SUBSTITUTE, FOR EXPERIANCE!! IT IS WHAT IT IS. SO.ILL.

  10. I agree, fishing has gotten 1000X better since Biden took over. It just gets better every day. I remember back in the 80's/90's when you could only catch 25 a day or so. Technology is almost making it too easy

  11. You are spot on. I have fished Missouri lakes for 30 plus years. Truman, Stockton, LOZ and Table Rock. As little as 5-6 years ago, if you concentrated on water in the 8-12 range you would catch fish, and good ones! (15-25 feet on Table Rock). The last 2 years, those fish are NOT there.
    Don

  12. Randy, you would be a fantastic interviewer. It would be cool if you incorporated guests into your social media. We hear at nauseam from the pros and industry insiders. Let’s hear from the salt of the earth locals and their ideas and opinions. You would be the guy to do it.

  13. The fish in Lake O don't appear to be moving deeper, but they are definitely more suspended over deeper water.
Becoming pelagic because the primary forage is shad.
The fluctuating lake level has decimated the crawfish and aquatic insects. Shad is the ONLY thing left to eat……so the fish have adapted.

Largemouth and spotted bass are acting just like Stripers now, to a large degree.

  14. It’s all relative. I can go to Lake of the Ozarks with hardly and knowledge and consistently catch better quality fish than my own home lake which is notoriously tough but not too far away.

  15. How about stopping live weigh-in's…Catch, Picture & Release. Stop dragging them around a lake all day, quit stressing them out, quit taking them off beds. All you boaters could use a lesson from kayakers. There are too many people on this earth to not move forward. Our population is our own demise. All you pros show us how to use this shit, you promote it, and jamb it down our throat. Sayin were behind if we don't use it. This is not a bash on you Randy, but just stating my opinion.

Also, does anyone ever say…"lets NOT grow the sport". This BS about growing the sport is from all the "Sponsored" guys who want to just push product (because they are paid to do so. The greed of the big companies in fishing is destroying this sport. Boat companies, tackle companies, rod companies would lose too much money if we didn't brainwash the up-and-coming kids…pathetic. Tournament fishing is ruining tournament fishing…FACT. This is a "SPORT" that has turned into a business. When businesses grow resources get depleted.

  16. Not sure about other states but where I live, night vision or thermal is not allowed to hunt or spot game animals. Pretty much the exact thing as FFS. Not sure why state governing bodies are allowing it.

  17. I only fish from the bank in smaller ponds. Some are in public parks with a playground very close another close to a busy road and 3 have railroads very close. No boating but still heavy noise . So what you are saying about fish going deeper in my case yes. All my big bass have been caught in the deeper water regardless of the time of year. Thanks for sharing!

  18. I hate to bring this up because it's a lot of work and a lot of politicking: But, how about getting together a coalition of like-minded professional sportfishing industry and form an organization so then there'd be a stronger voice in these conversation efforts?
