The Shallow Bite Is Back at Lake Perris! (12 Bass)
The conditions at Lake Perris looked like they should have pushed fish deeper. Water temperatures were around 82 degrees, skies were clear, and it was a warm Southern California afternoon.
My original plan was to check deeper water, but after getting bit almost immediately in the shallows, I decided to stick with what the fish were telling me. That decision paid off with 12 bass landed during the outing.
Most of the fish were on the smaller side, with the two largest weighing 1.4 and 2.18 pounds, but the shallow bite was noticeably better than it has been recently. One of the biggest observations from this trip was the amount of baitfish holding along the east bank. Every fish I caught came from shallow water around that bait activity.
If you’re fishing Lake Perris right now, this may be a good time to check the shallows before committing to deeper water.
