Thanks for calling out over harvesting early in the video. People should consider future availability of resources when keeping ome of their catch. I also want to commend you on keeping the fish of the ground. SO many guys just drop them into the dirt not thinking about how bad that is for the fish
Also how far you can cast your lure (1/16oz?) With baitcaster?
When was this? I was fishing 12/10 and caught no sundial.
Great Great Great Vid!!! Rarely would you see someone fishing for the Sundials. That looks like a lot of fun during these winter months. Do you have a Catch and Cook for them?
The best of the best…. Awesome video again really fascinating stuff on the Sun Dial
Why tF a German Title and than a Englisch video. Capper
Welcome back roger. I am seriously thinking about getting one of those baitcaster for wade fishing for flounders in galveston. I been using shimano curado cu200 BSF reel for the last 15 years. very nice reel but its time to upgrade. Welcome back buddy.
Are hickory shad the same species that runs up the Delaware River? Enjoyed watching this video BTW.
Shad can be super fun. Great video.i generally use a steady retrieve on a spoon. Super easy and fun to watch them jump.
my neck of the woods good stuff
Not often is there a channel on youtube that can compare to the master fishermen you only get to talk to once or twice in a lifetime. knowledgeable and consistent quality content for free? please don’t stop 😂
I've been waiting for you drop a vid! Great content once again. 🤙🏽
I caught several of these Hickories during a surf fishing session for striped bass. They hit a small sand eel teaser that I was fishing above a diamond jig. I thought they were American Shad, but I was rightly schooled when posting a pic on FB! 😃 Happy Holidays!
I fishing southern flounder with my Poison Adrena BFS this year. After several trip this fall, I found out there is no any problem to land a 22 inches flounder with a Shimano 0.8 PE.
Are these windowpanes around all winter? I’ve caught quite a few in early spring but i may try a few warm winter days if they are around if im bored
What’s up with the hate for striped bass?
👍🤘😎🤙 Sun dials and Hickory Shad.
Will they bite though the entire winter? what other species do you catch on bfs in the winter – any pollock?
Haven’t even considered bringing my 6’8 expride bfs out to the inlet. New inspiration 🤙🏽
Would be awesome to meet up with you and fish I always seem to miss you on the water
We used to smash the hickory shad just down the road at a marina, trout rods and herring darts
You have a great voice and style for this interesting video. I fish in NC and have never seen a sundial.
You mentioned earlier in the video about sundial's not having a creel limit so if you keep them practice moderation, so you don't abuse the system – I remember I was fishing the exact spot (literally within a couple feet) you are here 9:00 back on Halloween 1999. I have never seen anything like it before….just a mass of giant shad filling the inlet feeding on tiny shrimp to the point you could net stick your net in the water and get them. Some guy started throwing them all on the sand and then proceeds to get a wheel barrel, fills it up and says he's using the shad for fertilizer. This is why we can't have nice things without rules. Same stories i read back in the 1950s with so many stripers being caught on the beach from netters they would leave masses of stripers to rot because they couldn't get them all.
For anyone out there don’t be that person who abuses things. This inlet used to have lots of Northern Stargazers in it(only place i saw a lot of them being caught and even that
Extreme Philly Fishing guy even did a video from here because he never caught one ) word got out that they 'taste like lobster' about 10 years ago and they are now wiped out in that inlet.
Good to see you back
BTW, hickory shad also like a slow yo-yo style jigging off the bottom in heavy current, I catch them at night out on LI nearly year-round.
I've caught many sundials during fluke season but I'm curious what months you have jigged them like this in targetable numbers.
i clicked on this video because i thought the thumbnail was a drone
i caught my first sundial this year ripping a spoon back in the surf while casting at lil bluefish, lol. Theyre cool fish! How long can you target these? Throughout the winter?
Do you do any tog fishing from shore too?
Been waiting for a new vid! Hell yeah man 👍🏼
YAY! let's go Bait finesse
I really enjoyed the flounder part of this video. I wish you would make one again strictly for the flounder it’s not so easy for me walking anymore, but I can get to a seawall just like you were at and the experience that you just taught me about catching a clown in this way is exciting to me so keep that in mind. I’m sure there’s a lot of older people like mewho enjoy this.
