I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
Awesome tip! Will the new Core Tackle Tush replace the tube jig in your hollow body swimbait rigging, now?
Thanks for sharing this with us, cool way to rig a swim bait.
This video has helped me out so much ….THANK YOU! I SUBSCRIBED cause of this tip
Very cool idea
hi matt. i wonder if you could do a video talking about beast hooks vs jig heads with swimbaits. i know you're supposed to "let em eat it" with a beast hook, but often times the fish bite just a few feet in front of you and there's no time to wait for them to get it all the way in their mouth and set the hook. also, plenty of times the fish are just swiping at it, and i figure you've got a lot better shot at hooking them with an exposed hook when that happens. basically, the hook-up ratio just kinda sucks with a beast hook. i fish from the bank 95% of the time and i'm becoming more and more convinced that a jig head is the way to go from the bank. lastly, are there any bigger swimbait jig heads (6/0, 8/0) you recommend? i've found the zman headlockz which seems pretty good but it seems like there are very many larger swimbait jig heads out there
You're the man ! Thank you
That is a very good tip. It looks a lot better. Thanks.
Good stuff as always Matt thanks!
Great video. I just re-watched the video with the 8" Basstrix where you used what I think was an Owner keel weighted 8/0 hook not this tube Jig idea. Do you only use the tube jig for smaller hollow swimbaits? What size do you switch from one to the other? Also, what weight do you prefer for this method.
Thanks Matt! Really didn't want to waste money on those internal jigs. Got plenty of tube jigs. Great tip!
Now, THAT'S thinking!! You're an Einstein of fishing! The light just came-on for me and I'll be using more of these "ignored" baits. Good call, Matt.
If I use jig heads with head already on, I cut off the eyes of swim bait, and rig it that way, tube jigs are great advice, thanx..
In Australia we don't use tube jig's ( not that i have come across – in trout fishing ) but I have used your method with hidden TT jig heads – WOW – trout love the 4" – ( would like to have a 3" version ) – ingenious – well done .
Matt, have you ever seen a swimbait like this?

This video provides a truly unique way to rig a hollow body swimbait. I have a question regarding a possible way to make this rig weedless. The rigging is exactly the same as you explain in the video but instead of the exposed hook is it possible to bury the hook eye in the upper back body of the swimbait to make it weedless. I have a feeling that may not be your recommendation as this might cause the swimbait to move in an inappropriate way in the water. I am very interested in your response to this one alteration.
Hey this was great! I used your technique on a 4 inch Largo Shad. I could not believe the action, it vibrates like a Chatterbait. Got a couple of nibbles but, no bites. Thanks
Great idea for that. Will be trying this.
Now that’s a damn good tips n I been fishing 40 years, and haven’t seen that one yet. I’ll try that on these Pickwick fish 😁👍
Genius!!! So glad I have found your channel!!!
This makes so much sense! Headed to TW to upgrade my swimbaits.
Wow! Thanks for this tip Matt. This is the most useful video I’ve seen in awhile.
Absolutely love all your videos!!
You're killing me.
Awesome
