In today’s video, let’s talk about some UNDERRATED brands of ultralight fishing gear on the market that you should definitely check; These three rod options are based on my personal opinion, and I ranked them based on their prices, quality, what they are made from / sensitivity, and their action ratings.
What is an ultralight spinning rod?
An ultralight spinning rod is a type of fishing rod specifically designed to be paired with an ultralight spinning reel. These rods are engineered to be extremely lightweight, often constructed from materials like graphite or carbon fiber to achieve this. Their lightweight design allows for greater sensitivity and finesse when casting and retrieving, making them ideal for targeting fishing situations where delicacy and precision are paramount. Ultralight spinning rods are favored by anglers who prioritize agility and responsiveness in their fishing gear.

I have the 3 same ultralight rods you have. I use them most of tje time.
I'm getting the Trika Rod
Just my 2-cents, I use an OTX brand from Wally world, the Grit Stick, 4'-6" UL. Strong & light and sensitive, the sensitivity comes from using braid as your main line.
If own 1 rod? I own over a 100 rods, vintage Garcia's, All Star & Castaway's made in Houston, Surf, Catfish, Standup Boat, Deep Sea Roller Guide Rods! But the ones I use the most! Are my Ultralight Rods, some are inexpensive and a couple custom built 4'6" spinning rods! A couple of Great Built Youth Casting Rods by Gander Mountain that I don't believe are made any longer? But fishing with the Mitchell/Garcia 3800's, Penn SS 4200, Shimano Calcutta 51's. Are still my favorite way to fish these Houston Bayous and are easy to hump up & down the banks and a breeze to cast on tree lined and Hawthorne Shoulder high grass banks! With line no heavier than 10 lb, or spinning reels with 4-8 lb nano thread, it looks like sewing tread but is strong as steel wire! With 6' 15 lb shock leaders. And fishing small baits, 1/4 oz spinnerbaits and jig & pigs are deadly on fish up to 10 lb Bayou Muskies (Alligator Gar), and Bass, Crappie and Catfish believe it or not? And the ultralight Pop-R's are the real killer baits! Fishing ultralight makes catching 1-3 lb fish like catching World Record Fish! But at almost 70! The knot tying on those small lures a real task in patients and getting the line through the lure eye! Need to teach my grandsons how to make a loop knot! CMTFU
i used ugly stick so soft easy to break ๐ Relix Capung 702 is more better light and strong Indonesian Relix it's better.
I don't know where you get those prices …none of them go for 20$ ..its 2024 ..so yeah a bit superficial ..
Celilo Indians live in the Columbia Gorge by Hood River. Pronounced Si lie low
I just picked up a 6'-6" ultralight UglyStik. Still have my Fenwick ultralight rod, too. Pricey, but I got it 20+ years ago.
I have to say I still got my Shakespeare ugly stik gx2 after 5 years and it's still going strong I live in the UK so I mainly use it for trout and parrot fishing
Hey I agree with your the first one cuz I have a rod ugly stik was a ultralight and I hooked up a northern pike and I managed to land it and it was 4โ8 ultralight
The Okuma Celilo is like $60 bucks via your link. Way for someone to price gouge, where is K Malla when you need a Dem?
Hey man, thanks for the insight! Florida bass angler here, and Iโve been itching to feel the fights a bit more! (usually catching 1-7 pounders) youโve got me interested in the last rod you featured! Love the video. Thanks again
Good video, living over in europe i must say I do wish we had bass here, they arent the biggest or hardest fighting fish in the world but they seem to want to take just about anything and they would for sure be a fun fight on an UL
I have tried a bunch of different ultralight rods the past 4 years, some I still have, and some went into the trash. The worst so far was the berkley lightning rod. The best so far, ugly stik elite ultralight in 5'. Why? Because it never broke. I'll admit I can be clumsy with my rods, but I'm always fishing in places where my rod can get damaged and ugly stik hasn't let me down in that department. The elite series are graphite, so they're not too bad for sensitivity. But I value durability more than anything else, nothing worse than spending $150+ on a rod only to have to deal with a warranty or waste money buying another one.
With aging eyes and very large hands I have to go with at least 8 lb test on an ultralight Ugly Stick
Is there collapsable rod & reel for backpacking. I have a TenKara Rod. I would like a ultralight combo.
If you recommend an Ugly Stix, you're not liable. I'm out before this video gets to half point.
I've always loved my Finwicks. I have the Finwick Eagle and HMG. From what I hear of the HMX , it will take a chunk out of St Croix sells. Fuji guides and seat …..I gotta get it for trout. I recently broke my Finwick Eagle after 7 years. Someone stepped on it. I replaced it with a Favorite Brush Dobber. Nice rod for $40 one piece. Spur of the moment buy. A light medium. That's what I have been using instead of ultralight lately. I'm gonna be ready for the big one and not gonna have a story about the one that got away. ๐
Sponsor rod? There's no such thing strong rod in the sea
