Nithing like listening to good ole fishing stories, too bad the stories wont be much to tell in the future the way bass fishing is changing. Not sure a story about how a big fish was caught by looking on a video screen will be very exciting.
6.21 this past november at 350am from a rip rap bank on 1/2 oz Strike King Banshee buzzbait in Bluegill pattern with same color painted blade with none other than the upside down trailer hook you suggested in a video a few weeks before. Thanks Randy! The trailer hook is what caughtem!
When people call you a hypocrite it’s because of your position against the advancement of technology, while simultaneously making a living off technology of a boat, equipment, you tube, and iPhone. Thats the hypocrisy. Get it? Probably not.
My PB came 02-02-02 after a hard rain in California. Black and red jig with an arkie head with rattles, pork trailer. We had so much run off that year, there was bark and debris layered across the top of the water at the dam. Flipped into debris and he whacked it. I have caught a lot of 5,6 and 7 pound fish after that but nothing near that 9.7 pounder. This fish hit purely out of reaction as soon as the jig popped through the debris. If it was a hot dog on a hook he probably would have eaten it. That’s how my bigger fish have came over the years. Sudden fast reaction in the split second.
You would yank down with the rod to set the hook on the jig
11.4 when I was 14 years old on a paddle tail little bitty prerigged swim bait. I’m 49 and have never caught another DD in my life. Caught some 9 and some change bass but not another DD.
I remember watching you on TV with my dad and u were pitching over the top of tress and when u set the hook you would pin the bass to tree limb then you would plant and plow the boat into the tree with the trolling motor to get your bass , love the good old days mr Randy
It's always nice to hear cool stories like this! Thanks for sharing!
I've caught one that was 9.3 on Lake Toho but it was on a live shiner! Caught a 7 lb 15 large mouth in middle Kentucky in early April on a brown craw colored rattle trap. Caught a 7lb 5 oz large mouth on a green wiggle wart on Feb 14, 2013. On Douglas Lake in Tennessee. My buddy and I went back to Douglas lake on March 14, 2013 to crappie fish, we caught our limit in less than 2 hours and the sun came out and we got a south wind blowing up the lake and we went bass fishing and I picked up a red eye shade in Chrome with a blue back and caught a good fish was over 4 lbs, my buddy picked up one and we caught large mouth all day, we caught over 30 fish that day and on average our fish were over 3 lbs, our 5 best went 28 lbs and change that day. By far my best day of fishing ever. And not one of those fish came out of water deeper than 6 feet. Thanks for sharing. Semper Fi from an old Marine
Thanks Randy. Among the pieces of information, I will remember how well you did with plastic colored lures.
Great stories!!!
Try it from the shore in Coomifornia.
Randy, how big was the biggest smallmouth you’ve ever caught?
Cool topic!! My top 5 in descending order.
5. Is my profile picture.. got her on a lipless crank in Dec. Yoyo'n a 3/4 oz gold red eye shad. 8lbs 2 oz
4. On a deep diving crankbait, my wife netted her. 13 fishing cliff diver or whatever. 8lbs 7 oz
3. Black/Blue Chatterbait. The OG end of may 8lbs 10 oz
2. On a RANDY SPECIAL. the welded fluke with the barrel swivel and hook out the belly. 8lbs 11oz January 1st last year and the biggest
Number 1 25.5" between 9lbs 8oz and 10 lbs 4 oz. I didnt weigh her cuz it was in a CPR tournament and she was tongue hooked and bleeding a little. But she was also a black and blue chatterbait.
My PBs: Largemouth – 10 lb/1 oz, Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, GA, bronze 1/2 oz, Rat L Trap; Smallmouth – 5 lb/8 oz., Lake Chickamauga, Dayton, TN, Yamamoto cinammon black hula grub,; Spotted Bass – 5 lb./2 oz, Carters Lake, Chatsworth/Ellijay, GA, Yamamoto cinnamon black hula grub.
Arizona has 10 pounders. The vast majority of anglers don't see Arizona as a fishing destination which is great news for me.
Those are some hogs Randy! An 11.8 is one hell of a fish & PB.
I lived my whole life in southwest Ohio, my PB largmouth was 4.8 lbs. 2 years ago we moved to southern SC. My first year I upgraded to 7.9lbsr. This year I had best I've ever had for big bass. I crushed my PB multiple times. My 5 biggest largmouth This year 7.4 – 8.05 – 8.6 – 9.3 – 11.4 Caught them on big swimbaits mostly then some on big worms in the kayak. Also caught a lot 4-5 lbers, couple in 6 & 7's. 2023 was awesome & definitely looking forward to 2024
Let the haters suck on this 😂 and with no livescope!!! Fishing like real man not some Nancy that needs video cameras underwater to even be relevant. Nice 👍
Top 5 NorthMS
#1 12# late Jan chart chompers hulagrub.
#2 12# same/day
#3 10# may chart/wht spinnerbait
#4 9# (day before #3) blk buzzbait
#5 9# Feb chr/wht swimbait
Your the man randy you do great work
Randy, your biggest bass was probably a Florida Strein bass from Lake Okeechobee, and even though it is your largest the Northern Strain bass you caught are much more impressive. Back in the day, an eight-pound Northern largemouth would equate to a twelve-pound Florida Bass. Today Florida Strain are stocked in many states like Texas and California.
my god people are stupid in this country..OBVIOUSLY he didn't mean a 5 bass limit in 1 day of 52 lbs….common sense people, common sense
My biggest is on a hotdog and a trout hook on a YOYO hand line. 12lb 13oz on an island called Culebra just outside San Juan Puerto Rico
Jig & Pig used to be the BIG FISH bait!
I was fishing with Tom Mann Jr 2 years ago on Okeechobee and we were using that stick bait in June Bug. I didn’t get to go down there this time because I had rotator cuff surgery. That is money on O.
Consider revising title, lures I used to catch 52 pounds, my five biggest bass ever
Everyone will still click
Love u bro
We used to go to flat creek near Jenkins MO and use a casting net to get horny head minnows and then run way up dry creek near Cape Fair pushing mud for a 1/4 mile to get to a bluff bank deep hole in the river. Caught a 7 lb bass that day in the middle of summer, July 30th, 1987.
Here was another chance to go the extra mile and include some footage or some sort of record, but no…. Just tellin us about it….
My biggest was 9 3/4 lbs. I caught it mid July on a solid black spinnerbait on a shallow flat. The damn thing hit like a freight train!
You weighed that fish with everyone around but couldn't snap a quick picture of it. I'm calling BS. Biggest bass of your life and didn't take a picture.
I’m not gonna unsubscribe ya Kid.
No more mini bike rids K.
Impressive.
I never knew you did something like that.
Damn!
Thanks Randy
My PB was a 6lb. Smallie, 5lb. Largemouth both in Michigan. I saw a guy with an 8lb. Largemouth many many years ago 👍both on Rapala jointed floating minnow black back/silver body
My PB is a 9.2 on Chickamaga on a 1/4 Strike King Bitsy Bug Jig with a Baby Rage Craw green Pumpkin trailer jig was green Pumpkin as well. It was in a club tournament with only 15 to 20 boats entered and it was the first day of a 2 day tournament which I was tied for the lead after first day with 16 something pounds. Second day right away caught 3 bass over 3 pounds and then the rest of the day could not get a good keeper bite and caught one more small spotted bass which only had to be 12 inches so weighed in 4 and finished 5th and missed the money!! Sucked!!
I got on a great small mouth bite in northern mi on a small swim bait in the early spring. Pre spawn small mouth stacked up on a point in the river. Never had a tape or scale but i know i got 4 that had to go close to 7 lbs . Lots of others around 4
Awesome buddy
Caught my pb 10.9 on a “bleeding Shad” rattle trap and 9.2 on WCZ battle shad both last year best year I’ve ever had. Have caught my best 5 on a black silent megabass 110 and of course had forgot my scale. All these fish I spoke about were caught at the same lake here in Va. Thank you for all that you do Randy I’m in my 40s and don’t spend too much time on the internet but when I do check in I’ve always enjoyed your content. Happy New Year hope the family and yourself have a great year
Some pretty phenomenal Florida strains here in AZ don't forget lol.
