Where is the neon green or yellow or pink colors you talk about!?
I have learned it is better to have 5 different glitter colors with the same base instead of 5 different base colors with the same glitter. Cheaper to buy bulk packs of baits like the yum dingers.
Berkley blue fleck all you need in Texas
I always use pink danios on super sunny days here in Ontario and they slam..
I was told a few years ago from someone who worked for Rapala that most of the colors they paint are designed to catch fishermen, not fish.
Honestly anything that’s a sexy Shad color works all the time for me
I still have some of my red worms and black eels from the late 1950s and early 1960s. I think nothing made today, shapes or colors, will outfish them for bass.
This video is good, not great. It's biased and lacking. The concept of simpplifying is right. The choices are terrible, even the colors. Right idea, bad presentation.
Bro the black Yamamoto catches anything even caught me a wife
Lure and action, ie presentation first, size and shape next, finally color of lures. Black, white, blue, green, red are all I've ever used. I've never had too much trouble catching them. Getting caught up in different shades of green, or any other color for that matter, is all just nonsense.
Light or dark is what matters IMO. You can't tell me that a fish can tell that my lure has blue glitter flake in it at the 12 feet down at the bottom of a river with 2' of visibility at the surface.
Though I don't necessarily agree with you 100% on colors in Florida Fisheries especially South Florida I do believe your spot on from most everywhere else including Florida to a certain degree. One color I use for worms and I use a lot of it and I catch a lot of fish on it is white. A white senko, either wacky rigged or Texas rigged is one of my go-to's in Darker Waters or darker days believe it or not. I think it stands out a lot and if you move it the right way it can out fish a purple worm or purple senko. I also use white flukes and paddle Tails quite a bit even in saltwater and they tend to perform some of the other colors. Honestly even in my jigs and hard baits White, gray and silver do work well. I know you mentioned gold flake and most of my stuff is silver flake and it works really really well. Let's not forget bass or opportunists and a white worm, plug, or Swim bait if moved to correctly is a target for them. I haven't tried a white or light colored craw. Not even sure if they make them LOL. One thing I don't think I heard you mention is the size of these baits particularly what size paddle tails or Swim baits you think is a good overall size. Again bass are pretty opportunistic and I've caught six inch bass on 8 inch worms and 6 lb bass on 6-inworms. Opportunists. Like to hear your opinions on the size of these baits.
I respect your professional opinion but disagree. Color can play a very important role at certain times of the year and when they are keyed on prey specific for that time of year or their water body, especially if it is a small pond. If color wasn't so important then the other creators on YT wouldn't bother advocating for certain color specific baits. Many of those anglers are honest and not just trying to get you to use their links so they can get some pocket change; some are but not all.
5 inch green pumpkin or watermelon Senko catches all my Personal best fish
But if you aren't confident (believe in the lure) its really hard to go want to throw it all day. And if you get a horrible day out of it you really will ever want to throw that again. So yeah I do like to try different stuff sometimes its the shape, sometimes its the action, and sometimes its the color. But if I think it looks really like what a fish would want I am almost certainly going to fish it longer and probably harder thinking it has to work and generally it will produce because I believed in it and put the work in.
If you don’t live close to the water and only fish occasionally, you will never know the process of finding the right bait in your lake. We’re so disconnected from the land, that’s why it’s difficult to figure it out so spend your money open your wallet and go back fishing!
My 3 favorite colors are black and black and black!
Culprit baits #1
Zoom #2
As a lure junkie, i need to buy all sizes & colors…OR, i twitch, drool, and have seizures…
I already do this! Went crazy years ago with every soft plastic, but very quickly went to Senko, Craws, fluke, & beaver only with pumpkin, watermelon w/ red Flake, pearl/translucent, Black with blue Flake colors and that's it.
This may be the best fishing video I’ve watched. I fell into the color trap before, but follow the 2-color rule now. Thanks!
I stopped buying most artificial baits. I use real natural baits, worms, minnows, perch ect. Im not trying to make it harder on myself and trick fish. I give them exactly what they want!
The fact we buy colors that don’t exist naturally in nature shows we’ve been conned.
Folks tend to focus on "color" eveh though bass have a much more limited perspective of color than humans do.
Instead.. focus on brightness vs darkness, opacity vs. translucency. Color can sometimes make a difference.. but usually the change comea from dialing in just how much a bait does or doea not "stand out" for a given condition. Many colors in moat peoples bags are quite redundant from that perspective….
If it aint chartreuse it's of no use !
Nathan. Have you fished any of the Ozark lakes?
Way to describe my tackle box Nathan! Perfect! Thanks for sharing….
Green pumpkin all day every day.
Watermelon Red Flake catches a ton for me.. Blue Black Flake is hit or miss.
Amazing video. I have wasted a lot of money on useless plastics. I now realize, 3 and 4 inch paddletails. Green/white/grey depending on colour of water….all that you need. For sea/ocean surf…all you need are a few chrome spoons and a few surface lures..thats it
I always assumed that fish really only see in black and white. I try to match the hatch but stay away from the colors Mostly.
Excellence video Nathan. I think most of us have more plastics and lures than we'll ever use. I put packages together for kids and the local high school bass fishing team with my extra lures. Keep up the good work.
Fishing gear is designed to catch fishermen not to catch fish.
Dang your channel has really taken off
Gulp in any color works best anywhere.
Thank you very much for the video sir
can you do a similiar video but for the target species Perch or Zander?
Color matters. Not to the degree some go to but I've tested this with my fishing partner for years and years. But yeah you can def decrease your loadout a lot.
Thanx Nathan. Everyone says color isn't important until they run out of their favorite color. I fish tidal Maryland and stock up every year with green pumpkin blue.
To me worms look nothing like bluegills. You should try ten to twelve worms. 55 years of worming. Works for me.
