Spent the day on the Chowan River trying to figure out what the bass were doing after a tough stretch of weather. I started on main-river spots, but the fish had other ideas.

After a few adjustments, the bass started telling me exactly where they wanted to be, and the rest of the day turned into a lesson in paying attention to what the fish are trying to say.
